On the H/K V6, why should one wait 5 min. before removing the drain plug
after removing the oil filter cap? Why won’t all the oil drain out of the
housing simply by waiting until the oil is done draining from the sump? And
this would be for the 3.3 & 3.8L engines.

Excellent tutorial, video is well-made with step-by-step explanations not
just of what to do, but what the common and costly mistakes are. Exactly
what and everything a person needs to know.

brb getting my ladder so I can reach the filter while the drain plug is
out. That is the most fucking retarded way ever.

i have a 2.2 ecotec engine with the cartridge oil filter. i took out the
old oil filter and put on the new filter into the housing but when i put
the new filter on it has a wiggle to it….do i ignore the wiggle and
install it cause it will press into place when it rotates or did i get the
wrong oil filter?

900Yugo says:

you can find one for less than 10 dollars those cap type oil filter
wrenches.

4 quarts I wish my ss 2.0 takes 6 lol. I have no choice but to change my
own oil. Other wise I’m looking at 120 dollar oil change

im not payen 40 fucken dollars for a special tool just cause some fucken
hippy don’t want me to use a spin on filter!

cadzillals6 says:

The correct filter part number is 9018. The filter snaps into the top cap
and then is screwed in so the small portrusion fits in the hole in the
bottom of the housing. between it being contained in the cap and the bottom
seated in the housing, it will not move after it’s installed

I have used a regular 32mm socket on my ecotec since I got the car. I just
break the lid loose then remove the socket and twist it off all the way. Or
you can just use a bench grinder to shorten the regular socket down.
