Dude, I wish you lived in my town and were my mechanic. You seem like an
honest man.

dudelivestrong says:

I need a fast reply! My Jeep had the power steering pump replaced and when
cornering a sharp turn the steering wheel is hard to turn. (Both left and
right) And when just turning into a drive way it is hard to turn?

It never did this with the old power steering pump.(it was leaking is why
it was replaced).

zhrob na says:

Hi Scotty,
I have a chevy equinox 2006 (first generation) which does not use power
steering fluid nor pump, instead it uses an electronic motor. The power
steering is sticking. But there is something else going on that may be
related? I replaced the idler pulley because there is a noise coming from
that area. I wonder would the wheel of the power steering fix the sticky
wheel syndrome?! 🙁 Looking for an inexpensive solution. I loved the
seafoam idea.

Christian Stragazzi says:

Hi Scotty
I have a 2001 Dodge ram 1500, i don’t know if its my power steering pump or
hose that broke. It’s leaking the power steering fluid but i can’t tell
which one is the broken part can you help me?

John Doe says:

I have a 2004 Mercedes C240 4Matic, 70k miles with hard power steering I
say I have 40-50 percent power. I saw this UTube and did exactly with Trans
Seafoam. Did buy the Mercedes equivalent fluid cost me $24.99 and I now
have 80-90 percent power steering. I think I need to drive the car more or
give it few days.

pandorakid229 says:

My car makes screeching noise when I make a turn. this happens when I turn
on the car and don’t warm up that car and then make a turn. Also my car is
warmed up fully, it also makes a screeching sound when I turn my car make a
U turn and turn the steering wheel all the way down.

hero says:

JackieMoon66 says:

would this work on a 2004 chevy Silverado 1500 with 200k+ miles?

Rey Leanos says:

Hey Scotty will this work for a subaru impreza I’m having the same problem.

Edison Chen says:

Hi scotty, I’m driving a nissan cefiro j31 2007, recently after a rough
road i seems to have difficulties in steering, its quite stiff. I raised
rpm, it’s still the same. So what do you suggest? The rack? Few months
before the ps is leaking but it was replaced with new seals.

Russell Booth says:

I had a problem in my 2002 Holden Commodore (made by General Motors
Australia) and fitted with the Chevy 5.7 litre LS1 engine ever since I
bought it in 2008 where the steering was excessively stiff, in 2010 I went
through and rebuilt another second hand hand steering rack from a 2000
model Commodore (all of racks are the same from 2000-2004 whether they are
fitted with the Buick V6 or Chevy V8 engine). The steering was still stiff
even after I did that and rebushed & replaced all of the suspension
components in 2012,one thing that caused it was the front swaybar bushes
which freed themselves up a couple of weeks ago (they were too tight).I was
going to replace the return line from the steering rack which is 3/8 inch
hose and what did I find? Somewhere along the line, maybe a mechanic who
didn’t like one of the previous owners chamfered some 10mm rod in a lathe,
drilled a 2mm hole in it and jammed it down the return line as pictured on

This I believe may have over pressurized the seals causing the rack to
leak, I also went through and tightened up the cooler hoses as the steering
was still a little bit firm and was sucking in air past the hose clamps.

Any harm if I leave 8 oz of Trans Tune in the system for an entire day? I’d
like to put the stuff in the reservoir in the morning before hitting the 2
hour commute to work and back in L.A. traffic. I have a 1993 Lexus SC300.

Joe Garza says:

Hey Scotty I need some help please… I have a 1985 cutlass supreme
brougham and whenever I turn my wheel to left to right its really hard to
turn…do you think my power steering pump is going out? And do you
recommend Tran’s tune???

John Doe says:

I am happy with results I meant, thanks.

Vince Villamor says:

Scotty, i’m having this issue with my 2008 Nissan 350Z. The steering gets
heavy once it comes to a stop but if you rev up the motor a bit or have the
rpms at a higher state, the steering will get lighter. Does the Trans Tune
method work on a RWD manual car as well? Thanks in advance

John Horton says:

hey scotty i deffinetly have a big question for you. i have a 1998 chrysler
concorde and when i hit bumps or deccelerate quickly i get this god awful
clunking noise. i have located the noise and it was the rack and pinion.the
inner and outer tie rods look great but the rack is super clean and no
leaks it seems to make a noise only when i move the passenger tie rod. but
the rack seems to be going left and right but also up and down in the
middle of the rack. everything looks to be bolted down snug and tight.
should i replace the rack?? cause my steering is great…doesnt swerve or
is hard to turn or anything. im just puzzled before i spend quite a few
bucks into this. i appreciate it scotty if you can get back to me. you are
awesome.

LibyanRepublic says:

My wife when to the supermarket steering was like new R350 MB , when she
came back to the car the steering wheel was hard like a rock! when i went
there to see the damage” i found little fluid in the reservoir. the pump
look find no winning sound nothing
i put back MB fluid but the wheel still solid locked! can i use some Sea
Foam and try it ? i think the problem seems to be a locked valve at the
rack and pinnion. what do you think?

Sandip Bassi says:

Hey Scotty I know this has nothing to do with the video but I did replace
my ps pump anyways; I also replaced my valve cover gasket and put some
silicone on the moon like areas. How long would you recommend on letting it
sit before I start it up? Thanks

azulis ali says:

Thanks a lot fixed my problem with the steering wheel never thought I could
fix it with such a simple step, already had a mechanic telling me it would
cost me $300 dollars to fix. Thanks Scott Kilmer you saved me a lot of
money……

Paul Shin says:

Hi Scotty! Could I used seafoam transtune on a 2006 honda pilot? Would this
procedure be safe long term?

Storm Myths says:

Hi Scotty.
How much ps fluid do you extract from reservoir before putting in sea foam?
Also, after the fix, when you extract the sea foam do you remove all fluid
from that reservoir and then fill the empty reservoir with ps fluid?
Thanks!!

f150 4.6L with 4×4. I sometimes feel the steering getting a little stiff
and sticking both to the left and right when i make even the slightest
turns. Other times, it’s fine and back to normal.. any thoughts on this,
before I try seafoaming? Thank you!! Your video’s have helped me many
times.
