Rember the times 10 years ago where tesla was bashed for DU bearing failures. Truly 10 years behind. I bet that is caused by excactly the same issue realted to the sparks creeping.
That’s a great diagnosis and simple swap of motor to get it going again.

Diagnosis by the Mk I olfactory bulb. Awesome!
My Ioniq 28kWh (185k km) had the same issue: some metal from bearing did come loose. Engine was fixed (by @vanderwougroep9115): new bearings, new comms sensor ring and soldering 1 copper wire that was damaged by the loose metal element.
It would be interesting if you could tell a little bit about why this could have happened (what presumably caused the ball bearings to escape the enclosure?) even if the explanation is theoretical.

Are parts of the electric motor easily serviceable? Seems like removing the engine is quicker compared to large ice vehicles?
Is that the famous reliability of electric motors that never need servicing?
So 2 new bearings and the motor is ok to use?
The ball bearings are all there, the guide that keeps them apart was messed up.
Where would the debris from those disintegrated bearings have gone to?
Does Elbilmek use other, better bearings for replacement? I guess there is a broad quality range. (Probably Hyundai/Kia used the bare minimum required to save some money 😀 )

Just watched part 1 – This car has done 198,000 km.
Would be nice to get some info about the motor, what other cars use this etc, he mentioned he hadn't seen this before so sounds rare, maybe as a result of flooring it all the time? Not that driving style should cause damage. What are typical issues with motors?
My Kona 2021 has done 67,000 km, so I should be ok for a while! The previous owner did all that, I'm only adding 12,500 km per year now.
