2011 2015 Kia Optima Alternator Replace How to 2012 2013 2014

2011 2015 Kia Optima Alternator Replace How to 2012 2013 2014

here I will show how to replace your alternator in a Kia Optima with a 2.0 liter turbo engine and turbo. if your alternator goes bad in your Kia Optima your battery light may come on and it may seem like you have a bad battery or weak start or no start because of a dead battery. just remember a dead battery will never cause your car to turn off so if your car turns off while it’s running and then has a dead battery this is a good indication that you have a bad alternator in your Ford Focus.

This is the video that I've been looking for. All the other ones are for the 2.4 l engine. Thanks. This will save me a lot of money!

Robert Theus says:

This was not super easy but it was but you failed to leave out the most important step was removing the alternator

Renee Jaquint says:

We were almost going to drill a hole in the side wall when finally we got it. Unfortunately we didn't video it, sorry. We ended up using an open ended wrench after pulling the top bolt out and rolling the alternator forward. We stuck the wrench where the top bolt was and rocked the alternator back and forth until it came loose

Joseph Josephbaska6 says:

I have a 2014 kia forte and the alranator will not come loose from the mount any suggestion

Scott Carrington says:

The camera work in this video is clearly not the best, but it's far from the worst (and I am only pointing this out because you know some jerk wad will come through and give you a thumbs down or rate the video low because the camera work is "shakey").
However, I will have to say that this video has ALL the information you need, and some helpful tips, too. And you covered it all in underr 5 minutes! 5 stars, my man! Thank you so much for sharing!

Greg Fielding says:

Good video, informative. There are a few steps missing, as I just finished removing and installing a new alternator.
1. Remove the lower bolt, it matters when your trying to pry it out of the slot.
2. I don’t remember anything about the removal of the 12mm nut on the front/inside for the power wire.
3. Before removing the alternator, remove the 3 10mm bolts holding the vacuum advance (?) so nothing gets broke, bringing the alternator out. It really made it easier for me.

daniel roberson says:

Great video. Just do what he says and it won't be too bad. I tried to skip taking the dipstick out but it's got to come out. Great tips and tricks on how to make this job much easier.

Destin5 says:

Thanks dude appreciate the video alot

Anthony Saucedo says:

I was having trouble I just lifted the car a lil bit got under and chiseled the alternator out from bottom a lil bit and it popped out now I believe too actually take it out I read in a comment that u unbolten the ac line and you should have some play to actually take out the alternator, let’s see lol

Dean Nutz says:

Thanks for not showing us what you did lol

John Shaw says:

you just showed us how it looked after you removed everything. not really helpful

john r says:

i found that the lower mount was to tight to remove. After I got it out I found that the threaded side of the lower mount was just pushed in so if you un-thread the bolt a few turns and hammer the bolt head it will shift the threaded insert enough to easily remove it.

German Zavala says:

Hi bro is there a difference in how you do this if the Kia is Hybrid?

Tim Stoessler says:

Very helpful video. However, my 2012 has a bunch of harnesses and tubes (not sure of their purpose) that clog the space between the radiator fan and that black plastic box with the ### pattern. I could not get access to the 12mm bolt on the bottom right side under the rubber shroud.

3rdEy3r3ap3r says:

Nah man we can't see the last bolt or nut to get the alternator off

Trey Jones says:

All that explaining when you shouldve dont most the sh** in the video. Wtf

official trailers says:

Or is it my engine?

official trailers says:

I feel like when I start my car up in the morning it sounds like a jet engine ready to take off and I feel like it's coming from the alternator the sound if I change my alternator will my car run more quiet

Jesse Osufsen says:

For anyone thinking about doing this job… On the 2.4L there are some little plastic engine parts over the alternator that need to be removed. And it can be a real tight fight between the alternator and the mounting lugs. I had to use pry bars to get the alternator free after removing the 2 bolts.

Kman915 says:

I was just looking for the positive post on the alt for a big 3 upgrade

Adison Pennings says:

Nice vid, just went and bought a pry bar cause I couldn’t rip it out with my hands

Thexoxo8 Thexoxo8 says:

I can’t pul out the old alternator , I remove and disconnect everything. Any suggestions

Antonio karrillo says:

Straight and to the point, Thanks man!
