DO ya have to drain the coolant from the whole system?
Im curious because i live in ND and its effing cold man, no heat and
driving two hours a day to and from work blows, (heater does not blow heat
lol)
So i have a new therm, but have no catch can nor want to replace fluid, I
am getting fluids done in a week everthing , but need heat its getting
colder again and nights suck to work

Chas onay says:

Hi! I warmed my car up for about 20 to 30 minutes on a Monday below 0
degree weather (Chicago). Soon after, the gauge on the dashboard starts to
rise near the H with cold air blowing out of the vents instead of heat. The
coolant in the reservoir is kind of slushy due to the freezing weather
still. Can this be a thermostat gone bad (thermostat stuck closed)? Mind
you, i just replaced a thermostat a month ago. I also blew a head gasket
afterwards and gotten all of that repaired two weeks ago. My second
question is was my mechanic suppose to change the thermostat as well after
installing a new head and head gaskets? Now Sunday before the overheating
occurred, my car was operating normally, a lot of heat blowing and the
gauge (car) is at the normal temperature. I can;t afford another head and
head gasket, so i did not move my car by any means. Please help me!!!!!!!!

Spoof2k3 says:

Sorry dude but you have it back asswards…you are telling people the
thermostat allows the coolant from the radiator to flow into the motor when
it gets hot…it is the OPPOSITE…the thermostat opens when the coolant in
the ENGINE gets to the specified temperature and allows it to flow into the
radiator to be cooled back down then the coolant gets pumped from the
bottom of the radiator by the water pump back into the engine…not trying
to be a dick just don’t want people to get the wrong information…remember
heat RISES.

JerryRigEverything says:

You can get it! lol, remove the 4 nuts holding the fan on, and the nuts on
the top of the shroud. Then you can pull the fan and the shroud out at the
same time. leaving you with room to work on everything else. Check out my
jeep water pump removal for info on how to take the belt off and adjust it
back into place after you conquer that beast.

This Jeep had 160k miles when it threw a rod, so i swapped out the engine
w/ a spare motor that had 140k miles on it… After the swap was when i
started replacing components (like the thermostat) I only put about 1k
miles on the jeep from the time i bought it to the time i sold it.

SuperDagod1 says:

I think it’s the overheating which leads to a cracked head for the 0331
engine blocks like mine.

JerryRigEverything says:

Ya actually. I think my biggest problem was just having an air bubble
inside of the tubes. I didnt ‘burp’ the tubes when i installed everything.
But i agree, I ran a 195 as well.

SuperDagod1 says:

So did that fix the problem? I replaced the radiator, upper and lower
hoses, water pump, thermostat and sensor. I replaced them one at a time and
one at a time they failed one after another. For 11 years I would run 210
on the nose, now I run 195 on the nose since I did all of that work. 15
degrees I think is a big deal.

my jeap heats up and i have repaced the water pump thermostate rear
tempsensor checked the radiator and the radiator cap and i bled all the air
from the system still overheats might need to replace the fan clutch but i
saw how you drained the coolant i usaly i drive up into a kindergarden and
drain it it into the sandpit lol jokes but good video thanks

JerryRigEverything says:

Its honestly easier to do it by removing the fan. WAY less tedious. It
beats trying to wiggle the nut off bit by bit… But you can do it either
way.

SuperDagod1 says:

And you might as well do the thermostat, the sensor, fan clutch and the
water pump. and upper and lower hoses. Do it all at once. How many miles on
that jeep. Im at 188K. Your jeep looks filthy, do you off road.

SuperDagod1 says:

Sorry about this comment but Jesus your Jeep engine and components look
like nasty yuck. What happened. Mine look amazing compared to yours. How
does she run? Let me know the miles. You must off road?

JerryRigEverything says:

lol, I sure hope the sandpit part was a joke… cuz that would be pretty
messed up if it wasnt.

07ssowner says:

Awesome! Saved me a lot of time

TheXJthatCould says:

Lol everyone is talkin 160k and 180k miles, I’m at 248k 😉 love my jeep
