2009 Jeep Compass Limited – less than 70,000 Kms – undercoated by the
dealer when new. Just been told the front sub-frame, some call it a cradle
– Chrysler dealer calls it a K frame – is badly corroded, the frame on my
Jeep is rusting out. It must be replaced – it’s a safety issue. Frame and
sub frame rust and corrosion have been a problem in some Chrysler cars and
some Jeep models for years – Google shows dozens of complaints… Dealer
says no support from Chrysler on this. Beware!

William Stevens says:

What do you put in those holes to hold the transmission nuts. I have soun
off all 3 on the driverside. Please help thanks

TonkTheStonk says:

Thanks again, Maybe Jeep needs you to design a sealed(protected)drain
channel system into the underbody of the jk. All those engineers & not one
thought of this? It seems that J. K owners know the vehicle better that its
designers.

homerunhita12 says:

make sure it’s bone dry before using the rubberized stuff… you’ll trap
moisture between the paint and the metal which can lead to more rust. I
tend to steer clear of that rubberized paint. go for something dry like
por15, eastwood internal frame coating, or a red oxide primer. check out my
vids

Thanks for the video, just sold my J.KU 09 & have a 2012 J.KUR on the way.
I had an electronic rust proofing system on it & was fine for the body but
the exposed underbody had some surface rust. I intend to coat the whole
underbody with Rustoleum & Rustoleum heat paint for the exhaust & then
rubberized paint over that except for the exhaust of-coarse. What do you
reckon?
