I am trying this with red and I still have some dim spots and spots that are dim and white-ish. any idea what I am doing wrong? its a 2000 TJ

Lonewlf7676 says:

Do these work with the dimmer switch? Or are they at a constant brightness?
It’s a good idea any time you have the HVAC panel out to pop the hose assembly off the ducting switch on the right and give it a light coat of petroleum jelly to maintain pliability and ensure a good vacuum seal so your vent changes continue to work quickly.

Thank you so much for this great tutorial. There are many differences between your model TJ and my 97 sahara but this video helped have the confidence to tackle this awesome project. Well worth it. SUPERBRIGHTLEDS is the only way to go fellas.

djkirE says:

Great idea! Thanks for posting this video.

willybti says:

No problem, been there. Good Luck.

Phantasmos says:

Intresting…..
Tnx for the idea…

Nice job

Ron K says:

FYI. My 98 Wrangler had a screw in the ashtray. Don’t pull the cover too hard without checking there first………

Brie Cook says:

Great video… I’m a broke college student trying to fix my heater for winter. Didn’t know how to get the console off for the climate switch. Thanks! Now I want to change my lights too!

midnightt21 says:

I know you did say in the video but I’d like to see them so I don’t get anything mixed up

midnightt21 says:

What’s the name of the bulbs? And what did you pay for them? Really like it and u want to do the same to mine. Looks real good

rayaboomboom says:

Great Post! Big help! Wish you were closer to Jersey!

willybti says:

Correct, that is for a 2004, unfortunately I believe there are at least 2 different setups (at least) for the TJs and I’m not sure what year you have. superbrightled com should be able to identify which bulbs you need for your year Jeep.

willybti says:

Yeah they do, its just much weaker of an illumination than before the change. You can’t see it on the video because the camera just couldn’t pick it up. The needles illuminate blue, and easily enough to see them while driving.

XCamIVX says:

11:58 So you needles on the your guages dont light up?

PurpleHeartVeteran says:

So let me get this straight….NEO4 bulbs will fit in the cluster and HVAC?

willybti says:

Used blue for everything. The on/off switch didn’t show very well at all though, now I mainly keep my softtop on so I can’t even check.

bukrub66 says:

After age 4 on the wrangler forum I was way confused. Thanks for the video. Will order tomorrow. What color did you use for the on off or the switches?

Kevin Gold says:

Thanks! Good posts on Wrangler forum BTW

willybti says:

@Kevin Gold You got it. Couldn’t think of the best name or them when I was making the vid.

Kevin Gold says:

By door accent do you mean foot well light?

cassidyoilstates says:

Helpful video…

willybti says:

really depends on the year of your TJ. Mine was x-74 for the dash, T-4s for the HVAC & Switches.

willybti says:

It’s not a bracket, my Sport version didn’t have an ash tray, only a flat piece of plastic.

joshywashy23 says:

and where did you get the bracket for the oval switches in the ashtray section?

joshywashy23 says:

what leds are needed for the dash, heater pannel and the switches?

Michael Silver says:

Great video. thanks for the post. Helped me remove the middle dash.

willybti says:

Yeah, the needles show up blue….everything shows up as blue…no other colors, but the needles on the side smaller gauges aren’t real bright.

btw…..sweet rubi! Good color too.

Beaverj420 says:

I did the same set up awhile back, but I used white in the speedo cluster. I see you used blue, does your needles light up blue or are they to dark to see? But even with the white in the cluster it looks great. I also hear that if you use a blue light it will still light up green, is that true? I have a 05 rubicon. Check it out… Beaverj420

willybti says:

You basically hit the nail on the head. The only difference between the Sport & X is the wheel package. Sahara is cosmetically nicer, but the Rubicon has different gearing, D44 axles on front & rear (heavier duty) and is all around more awesome.

It won’t let me input a link, but go to google and type in “stock TJ specifications” and the first hit is thread on the JeepForum that list all the details of all the packages….kind of informative. I still reference it.

tisdue says:

I have a TJ as well. The “X” standard one or whatever. What makes the Sport different? And the Sahara, Rubicon, etc. Is it cosmetic and tire upgrades? i heard the engines are all basically the same.

willybti says:

No prob man, glad to help.

tisdue says:

Excellent. Thank you for the upload. I have to install a new CD player and had no idea how to crack this puppy open.

willybti says:

Yep. 2004 TJ Sport.

tisdue says:

Did I hear you say this is an ’04?

willybti says:

@RyanJamesLyrics Sony MEXBT5700U CD Receiver Bluetooth Hands-Free. I used to only rock Alpine & Kenwood, but this Sony has been freaking awesome.

RyanJamesLyrics says:

Looks good…what kind of head unit is that?

willybti says:

No prob man, glad I could be some help.

A484 says:

Just did my dash switches and hvac. Only took a half hour. Your vid was very helpful.
