truffle on a car is not the place to be a cheep ass aspechely on tires
brakes steering supenchen

Bullshitkorner says:

that’s a understatement the previous owner didn’t believe in oil changes
too often, you must admit for having a 1/4 million kms treated like shit is
pretty good

2595cjp says:

originally when I got my car it did not sound to good but lucky for me
there not that much wrong with it had a bad distrubter cap, distrubter
rotor, 5 cracks in the ignition coil, spark plugs, spark plug wires, timing
was out on the cam 1 notch, o2 sensor, 1 rotten brake line, fount brakes
not to bad for a 1997 but it is running like new I did a compression test
on it bran new it would be 185.5 psi compression and right now it is 185.5
psi compression that is new os I got really lucky

2595cjp says:

Yah that is what happens when you don’t take of it

Bullshitkorner says:

yes that’s what happens when a push rod breaks

2595cjp says:

It sounds like a diesel

Ashton Lanier says:

too bad its a automatic lol

Joshua Bassler says:

Wrist pins

Jeep is known for this 4.0 engine. I wouldn’t replace the 4.0 engine with
anything but a 4.0. My 1992 has started to do the same. I will deal with it
if it gets worst. Some mechanics prefer to change the whole engine instead
of changing the head. They tell me its less work to change the engine.
Offcourse they are concerne about their time but I am not when it comes to
work on my Jeep. So what it takes me a day or two to take things a part.

Bansheekid1992 says:

I have a 94 Cherokee and it makes the little tick your jeep does. It’s just
a valve thing doesn’t afect the way it runs. Not sure what to say about the
knock but good luck and can’t wait to see how it comes along.

samus989 says:

normal diesel clatter.. hahah

Bullshitkorner says:

very nice, getting your hands on a CJ is a rare sight as you hardly seem
them around anymore

halo1927 says:

Oh i c. My 02 jeep Wrangler X was makiing the same sound. I kept driving it
like that until it through a piston through the block. I bought a brand new
engine for 2600.00 at O’reilly Auto Parts. I put the straight 6 back in it.
This has been 2 weeks from today, it runs great of course with a new
engine.

Bullshitkorner says:

the video will be posted next week as the teardown of the engine continued

Bullshitkorner says:

that’s fair enough if you know your engine has treated you good then for
sure fix it up. my engine was a high mileage and poorly maintained motor
from the previous owner, so i wasn’t taking any chances i decided to pull
the motor and put a good running 4.0 in it

maxpaine0862 says:

So my 04 mustang makes the same noise it the piston inside the motor so in
this case a engine swap is requiered at least that’s what my mechanic said

Bullshitkorner says:

@martinsteele05 i had a few ideas including even a v8 swap but I decided to
keep it simple and easier that way instead of playing around with wiring
harnesses and things. I’m just on a search for a motor as we speak, and yes
i was very surprised too that it started up so quick for as long as it’s
been siting. The exhaust was smoky at first I should have got that on camera

Bullshitkorner says:

push rod broke when rocker arm backed out

martinsteele05 says:

Have you thought about a diesel. like a cummins 4bt

Bullshitkorner says:

in most cases when a engine develops a knock it’s usually cheaper to
replace a engine instead of repairing a used a one

reweydewy says:

Sounds like a diesel! Nice Jeep tho

Jon Holtzclaw says:

im just saying thats a I6 4.0 not the 4cyc 2.5

mkultram98 says:

I’m not sure but that sounds too loud to be a sticky lifter…which is what
that usually is…

Bullshitkorner says:

I needed up just swapping out the motor, I will do a video later on tearing
down the old jeep motor

halo1927 says:

Bad Wrist Pins!

orator says:

Sounds like lifters to me. Maybe an oil change and Rislone or replace the
lifters.

Bullshitkorner says:

your partially right, after tearing down the engine the rocker arm backed
off, push rod jammed and busted and the lifter with it got smashed

martinsteele05 says:

damn that started right up for sitting that long

southernpr1de says:

What have u done so far. The 4.0 straight six motor you have is a awsome
motor they have grenade proof blocks that knock doesnt sound bad but the
jeep is in bad shape. it is up to u if u want to but a new motor i would
rebuild or either swap with a 4bta only reason is the 4.0s r unstopable
they run forever i have a 2000 tj with a 4.0 and i am trying to brake mine
so i can rebuild it so far i cant do this i have a 4 inch lift mud tires
and a 6000 pound winch.
