@4wd Oh ok, that does make sense. And yeah unfortunately most people do
only have them for the off road look. Thanks for actually taking the time
to reply to my question though, most people wouldn’t have.

bquirk514 says:

can you make a video for day lighters on an overhead light bar?

RudeBoyNallin says:

is that just for offroading or can they be uncovered for onroad use?

slebemma says:

What a crapy installation job…..zip ties are you kidding me. Your running
2 X 55w + 2 X 100w through the factory wiring…no relay. People just
follow the installation instructions that come with the lights then you
will get proper power to your lights and you wont fry your factory wiring,
that’s why you get a wiring harness when you buy the lights.

josh552233 says:

The factory lighting system will not support 55w lights. Many people have
tried this on lots of forums and no luck. Later model jks have a system in
the computer that if it reads too much draw they will cut off. Some people
buy the lights and replace the bulb with 35w. Or just use the oem relay as
a switch and hardwire power from the battery.

Will Leary says:

Do the laws mean we can’t have them on our Jeep on the highway, or just
that they can’t be turned on when we’re driving on the road?

Jeffrey Kelley says:

My lights do not work. They just turn on and right back off. Wiring good.
What’s happening?

halo368 says:

So bassicly since there is no switch, relay, fuse, etc, then when you turn
your bright lights or dim lights on the kc’s come on as well?

lijianli says:

Thanks. Yes, I’m trying to install them on the lights they came with which
is are the Slimlite 120. I did finally get them into place. It did take a
bit of pressure to press down on the snaps to get them into the groove, but
they’re in and secured now. Thanks again.

freekincage77 says:

awesome video. Great explanation.

4WD says:

You’re correct, when the fog lights turn on the KC’s turn on. When you
purchase the KC HiLites as a kit you receive a separate switch and fuse so
that you can turn them on separately. They just weren’t installed that way
in this video. Let us know if you have any other questions, thanks.

RudeBoyNallin says:

alrighty thanks man

clipdan says:

thanks for sharing. I want to get some KC’s on my 4×4…

4WD says:

@drumsalltime Doing this without the zip ties would require the customer to
drill a hole into the back of the grill hoop then run the wiring to the
bottom of the hoop for another drilled hole either in the hoop or bumper.
It’s a lot of work, but if you are looking for a perfectly finished setup
this is your only option. Unless of course you don’t wire the lights and
put them on the Jeep for the off-road look, which a lot of people do.

4WD says:

WillisL94 generally speaking there are no legal concerns of having the
lights mounted on the vehicle and off. You shouldn’t drive with the KC
HiLites on, its blinding to oncoming vehicles. To make sure you aren’t
breaking any vehicle laws check your state requirements. Thanks.

4WD says:

We’re glad to hear you have them installed. Let us know if we can help you
with anything else in the future. Thanks!

TheNortherner says:

Also It would be a good idea to heat shrink the splices with the good
shrink tube that has sealant in it.

4WD says:

The stone guards simply snap onto the KC HiLites and shouldn’t require
anything special to put them on. They are tight and do require a little
pressure to put them on, but no excessive force. By any chance, are you
trying to install these on a non KC light? Hopefully you have figured this
out and they have been installed on the light. Let us know if you need any
help.

RidgeRunner57k says:

The zip ties would be ok if it were a black hoop probably would look better
if ya ran it through the hoop perhaps.

Joosy Knadds says:

@ultimatefighterispro it would work til you get time to drill and tap it
out for some quality holders and plus who cares………. its a
jeep………

drumsalltime says:

@ultimatefighterispro My thoughts exactly. How would you do this without
the zipties?

Mcmaster blaster says:

Slebemma is right, by installing the 2 x 100w bulbs you are adding
(16.66Amps x 80% rule = 20 Amp fuse) to the circuit already providing power
to the 2 x 55w bulbs. Lighting loads are calculated at 100%. Depending upon
the driving, strip back the wiring in a year, you will see the surface of
the conductor has darkend. The reason for stagging connections is not for
fitting the wires in that cheep plastic tubing. It’s to insure the splices
are not side by side. Tye wraps look unprofessionial.

4WD says:

You will need to check into on-road usage with your state and local laws.
Some of the concerns you should check into are mounting locations, light
wattage limits and coverage laws. KC does offer 3 different types of
SlimLites for your considerations the Long Range (Not Legal for highway
use), Driving Light and Fog Light.

lijianli says:

I’m having a hard time trying to put the stone guards on. It seems simple,
but I cannot seem to get the both clips to lock in. It’s either one locked
in and the other has not. Please explain.
