I have a 96 ZJ with the 5.2 so the same vehicle, doing mine also but replacing the accumulator/drier also. I didn’t find it necessary to loosen the upper hose, drain coolant, etc. as comp. came out rather easily– I got a re manufactured one online for $99.03, mine was making noise also, the bearing was the pulley bearing was the cause

Its not called Freon…. Freon is a refrigerant that was a brand developed by the company DuPont. To keep it generic its simply R134-A. or Refrigerant #134A
