Jeep Cherokee XJ GAS GAUGE Not Working | How to Replace Fuel Level Sensor on your Fuel Pump Module!

Gas gauge not working? In this video I show you how to diagnose and replace the level sensor inside the gas tank. I replace the level sensor on this 2001 Jeep Cherokee but the same process can be applied to almost every vehicle out there. I put a link to the fuel pump/level sensor and fuel tank stripes I used for this Jeep Cherokee below.

Wow!! That is the first time that I have seen that one.I cant even begin to think of WHY that would be in there….lol….

@JS-yj7ow says:

I've got a question for you.

Just tonight, my '87 XJ 4.0 pegged it's fuel gauge due east (well beyond the E-F dial.

That doesn't seem like a sender issue. Wiring? Gauge itself?

@30AndHatingIt says:

Just bought an XJ. My fuel gauge reads empty if it’s over a half tank… when it drops below half, it reads properly. Lol wtf…

Nice prop to explain how things work.

Next time I have to work on the fuel pump or filter I'm cutting an access hole in the floor. Same thing for rear upper shock bolts.

Great detailed explanation ❤

@drgil65 says:

Thanks for your video, I wonder how long that other pump was in there?

@averagejoe8213 says:

Damn, this was a great video. TWO fuel pumps for the price of one!!! learned how to syphon gas AND what resistance to test for and test the system to make sure everything else works. You're my hero today!

@stevedeckerdog7181 says:

You said you're leaving the fuel pump numbers to pick it up I couldn't find nothing about your new fuel pump or where to get it

@CalQwax says:

My how to siphon gas out of 2000 XJ video. Please go check it out.

@joeytonetti2519 says:

Does the pump make that humming sound when you were first priming it all the time?

@felicitous48 says:

Great vid, thanks. I bet installing fuel pumps from the factory is automated, and the machine just pumped two in there! I just bought my XJ a few weeks ago and fuel gauge/sending unit took a dump.

@AA-zm4ow says:
