In this video we’ll show you how to replace a valve cover gasket. This happens to be a Jeep Cherokee but it should be pretty similar for any make and model. Share your videos and earn $$$$…

Whats the best way to clean off the head? Just take a rag and wipe it down?
Seared a bolt, the torque wrench is a lie!
It’s 7 lbs not 17 lbs, your going to have a lot of missed of people with
broken bolts if you don’t edit that, otherwise it’s a great video.
If you take the upper radiator hose loose you won’t have to fight to get it
off.
Also you should mention how brittle all those plastic retainers are after
years on the engine, they break too easy upon removal
just a question, i ordered a valve cover gasket some time ago for my 94
Cherokee L6 engine, and found that the gasket was totally different that
what i have.. how many types of covers are there?
also, my valve covers are broken now and i need to replace them, will the
other type fit on my engine?
can you clean everything off when the cover is off or should i just leave
all the oil on it
17 foot pounds? Those little bolts are going to bust.
Great video. You have inspired me to fix my leaky valve cover 🙂 One
question… How well does the head need to be cleaned? And how should I go
about doing so? The same nylon brush and simple green you used on the
valve cover? Should I be weary of getting de-greaser on the rockers? This
video does not show that process and I assume that is not an easy task
since there is so much clutter. Thanks again!!!
I am reading a service manual that calls for 75 in. lbs. or about 6 ft.
lbs.
How to Replace a Valve Cover Gasket
Thank you guys for another great video! Saved a ton of money and its
definitely a rewarding experience.
Nice how-to! What oil do you run in that Jeep? The rockers look spotless.
Wow I was literally just thinking about doing this, and this video comes
up, thanks a million dude now I know I can do it.
links don’t seem to be working…
Very informative and straight forward. Thank you sir!
I suggest clean-up with Greased Lightning
http://www.greased-lightning.com/
By the way those felpro valve cover gaskets are reusable.
Used 17 foot pounds and snapped a bolt
Just be happy you don’t have the good ‘ole plastic valve cover of the
258…whatta PITA that one is.
Does Tim have a channel as well? If so, what is the name of it?
Yet another “Hell yeah I can do this myself” vid, awesome.
The only question I have is how would you know if there was a leak past the
gasket, and if there was is it a case of tightening the bolts even more?
Any videos of this being done on a 5.2 ZJ? My V8 just looks much more
complicated than this :/
maybe try 30 inch pounds of torque on those screws. That would be a little
more then snug
That is the cleanest Jeep i have ever seen. Looks new!
Who’s the girl in the T-Shirt store?
Clean engine bay. Nice video.
Pretty easy job to do. BUT DON’T OVER TIGHTEN THE BOLTS! B/C SNAPPP now you
have a broken valve cover bolt! I would ONLY know from experience haha
🙂 Great video helped a lot.
i can’t believe how clean this 98 is, it’s a shame that mine in Canada is
way more destroyed by the winter
Hello, I have a 98 dodge 1500 with the magnum 5.9L and the passenger side
valve cover is leaking. Do i have to replace both the left and right valve
cover gaskets or just the broken one? Thanks for your help
I was just about to search for this and it hit me first. Thank you for the
video. I loved that gasket, where can I get that gasket please??
Why is the oil in my sir filter and how to fix
that is one clean engine bay
Where can I get one of those fresh air inlet caps that sits on the front of
the valve cover? I need a new one.
needs to explain how to how to clean head properly, but other then that a
good video.
DUDE THANKS!
iv herd that you can use old oil as like grease or lubrication is this
true I really love to recycle???
I literally did this this morning
