how long did it take you to pull the engine?

Shadd Perry says:

Great video thanks

Nick Munno says:

This was great. I’ve got the manual trans, but I figure I have to rebuild
that again anyway.
Thanks for posting this.

Kenny Heckard says:

Thank you for this. I’m about to do an engine swap as well in my 97 xj due
to bad cam bearings(0 oil pressure).

Steven Geyer says:

Tho I’ve pulled many engines, my 16 yr old son is about to help replace the
4.0 in our ’95 Jeep Grand Cherokee that his older brother blew up a while
back. I bought the truck new while in the military, and the only problem I
ever hed a with it was starters every few years, and the oil pressure, and
an overheating once. I gave it to my youngest son after purchasing a 4WD
’97 Grand Cherokee to replace the ’95. I believe you’ve added enough detail
for him to understand the things I’m going to be asking him to do for this
engine swap. Ours looks to have the same block & oil pan damage as the one
you post here… Starting to wonder if that’s the weak point in these
engines? Thanks for taking the tme to post this video & info on the E12
wrench needed.

briansmobile1 says:

Welcome Harley!

McKalister Haynes says:

sucks thay still used thos u would not think thay have one being a 01 jeep
living in the past

Brian Tidd says:

My name’s Brian, too and I’m pulling the motor out of a ’96 cherokee, which
is almost the identical motor (as you said ’01 was the last year before
Chrysler changed things up). This video was awesome! You are the man! Never
would have known to get an E12 wrench. Thanks bud.

P SHROFF says:

@briansmobile1 how thick is thick ?

1elAguila says:

yrulooknatme says:

Kevin Kenney says:

Very good job, thanks for your time.

James Johnson says:

Too be fair though a lot of those auction cars we get are actually really
nice!

briansmobile1 says:

@toonrunedudehobby Clegg’s Machine in Orem, Utah.

Samantha Mock says:

I am about to pull a motor from one to put in another jeep this looks like
it will be helpful to me in my journey with that

84W150 says:

Not to be rude but It’s called a Pentastar, and if you haven’t already, put
a shot of oil on the cherry picker hydraulic seal. If they sit too long in
a dry environment they’ll make that noise. Great video and keep up the
great work!

briansmobile1 says:

It overheated severely…. and just kept going. Mileage is irrelevant if
you run without coolant.

steve47mopar says:

for me the 4.0 inline 6 has been a good solid engine

Jeff Banfield says:

Thanks man guys like you really help guys like me…Im getting ready to do
a 7mge on my supra. Where did you buy the long block from?

briansmobile1 says:

Thank you.

Attohertz says:

Brian, thanks so much for doing this video. What height is the top (highest
point) of the engine hoist at when you pulled the motor? I’m wondering if I
can manage this in a kind of low ceiling garage.

sk8tbaker12 says:

bout to pull my 97 jeep cherokee motor never pulled a jeep motor before
dont seem all that hard kinda excited to do it but i know it will piss me
off haha

McKalister Haynes says:

kick down cable lol

oOOpIIIqOOo says:

why did the engine break to beginn with?

McKalister Haynes says:

nice videos tho

moparmania74 says:

i really wish he would run 3rd party. but im pretty sure hes not gonna. i
dont think a third party canidate can be a thing any serious person would
want to take on until they have some voter reform. like instant run off.
then no one can be ruined by being called a “spoiller”… hahaha what crap.
atleast he is building a movement. and im sure if his son runs in the
future, he would be 10 times more successful, because of what ron is doing
now. but something about rand kinda turns me off.

P SHROFF says:

Great Video and i want that new shinny engine in my house under a glass
table it looks so amazing!!!

bikefixr says:

I have to do the same swap on a friends 2001. I found my E12 on EBAY for
$60. However, I can NOT seem to get access to the T-Converter bolts. My
shield seems to be 1 large piece sandwiched between the block and
bellhousing. Maybe I’m missing something here. I’ve removed every bolt I
can find and it will not budge.

briansmobile1 says:

Thank you very much. I couldn’t find a good one before doing it so I made
one.

daniel atkinson says:

Brian, Thanks for the Great Vid! you’re right not many good videos for
Cherokee engine pulls…I was totally ready to pull mine, and then saw how
much work it was. You’ve convinced me to pay someone else to bloody up
their knuckles LoL. Keep up the Good Work Kid!

cg49me says:

Thanks Brian! Getting ready to yank the 4.0 out of my 2000 this weekend,
going to stroke and overbore. Completely forgot about those E12 bolts on
the bell housing.

James Johnson says:

Lol, looks like my boss is going to eat it on this one. I work at a used
car lot where we buy old junk cars fix them and sell them. We bought six
cars at the last auction at wholesale dealer prices so I guess if one of
the six is junk and the other five are decent it’s ok. I got two of those
six that just need brakes. I’m in love with the 98 Mazda 626 that came in.
Haven’t gotten to look at it much but has classic symptoms of MAF problems
and or Vac leak. Hopefully this one will be fixable 🙂

briansmobile1 says:

@zxtenn Hey I’ve owned like five of these- I LOVE them, but I know where
the soft spots are too.

Michael Hreczny says:

Great video man. I’ll be taking my engine out this weekend and this really
let me know what i was getting into.

briansmobile1 says:

A company from Colorado- the owner had it shipped in.
