@honeybunch2k6 You might either be turning the tensioner the wrong way, or
you could have the wrong size belt. It’s always a good idea to remove the
battery cable when working on the motor, but it’s not needed for this
project.

If there’s is a lot of slack in the belt and it’s a new belt, measure it
against the old belt to see if you have a right size. This video will also
show you how to tighten the belt.
My belt broke while I was driving on the highway. I got a new one, but was
unsure of how to tighten it. This answered that, thanks!

In fact your Jeep does not even use a timing belt, but rather a chain!

@1aauto Thanks 1aauto!!!! I had to go out and get a longer belt. FYI zj
owners I ordered the belt online and they gave me the 89.5 inch. I had to
go to napa and get the 92 7/8 inch belt. I didn’t have to wrestle with it,
it took me only a few minutes to get the belt on.
You’re a life saver! I have a 97 JGC Laredo and the timing belt is shot I
think it’s making noises. I hear repairs can be $250 or more! I found your
video and went out and found a $20 replacement belt and I’m going to give
it a shot this weekend and replace it. Thank you!

to the battery terminal and hook-up. Corrosion is never a nice thing.

find around that power steering pump. Gonna replace my water pump this
week, so this is good info!

You may want to remove the broken stud first and then replace it with the
proper bolt size.

why dont you just remove the fan cover, so you can have more space to work
with.
I have a 318 grand cherokee and I cannot find the belt diagram, the fan
shroud is not there so no little diagram anyone know where I can find it
I have a 95 Cherokee Sport with a 4.0. On my Cherokee the adjustment bolt
is actually underneath the power steering pump. I’m about to lose my mind
because I turn the bolt, but the pump doesn’t move; the bolt just comes out
further. Any ideas?
