Thanks Bro! Appreciate the input.
yes, the press is too small for some jobs. like pulling a carrier bearing
off, the carrier wont fit inbetween the metal brackets. but thats pretty
much the same with any size press.
I think It’s the Harbor Freight 12 ton press. I am thinking of buying that
press. (I busted my bench vise pushing a bushing out.) do you have any
opinions on that particular Arbor Press? Great Video BTW I have a
driveshaft vibration and I might be doing that exact same job on my XJ
soon.
the press? check out my videos on how to change a u-joint with a vise and
with a hammer.
crap what if you don’t have that tool?
can u do this on a 1978 silverado?
the u-joint broke or what broke?? Unless it is horribly bent I’d just
replace whatever broke and try again.
hi my front rear u joint is buggered would that make a loud clunking noise
when im in just 2wd? its a suzuki sierra
another great vid man thanks! now I just need to find a shop press, d’oooh!
Thank you!
Hey Matt. Buddy of mine just bought a very poorly built YJ which I told him
not to. 4 banger with a 3″ lift on 35’s on Dana 35’s hahahah. Anyway his
front driveshaft just popped out where the ujoint connection is. The end
leading away from his front diff. What do you think? New u joint for sure,
but new front driveshaft too? Thanks
I was told that the front passenger u-joint was bad as i was getting 2 new
rear tires on my 96′ cherokee xj. i also changed the right driver side tire
to a tire with more (not new tread)> the very next day I heard this
knocking as i drove that slightly vibrated through the steering wheel.
Could this slight variation in front tire change cause the u joint to cease
operating properly or is it something else possibly? I’d appreciate any
infoo you have.
whats the drive shft from
This is a great video .!!!! Should have more views . glad this kind of
videos are out there …
i changed the u joint and now cant get the front differential shaft pass
side back in help plz
no prob
damn, quoted 360 and took 180? thats just wrong for those people that dont
question the price!
I disagree slightly. When in 2WD mode, there will not be any load on the
U-Joints. If they are only slightly failed, they may be silent when
freewheeling, but make noises under load.
I thought I’d wrenched on everything, but apparently not drive shafts.
Watched your vids (you’re really fuckin’ weird, but in a cool way), and
after your U-joint vids, and a couple of others, I was sure I could do this
myself. Googled, I found $150 to $250 was the range for the corporate fix.
Dropped it off at Aamco, and a day later, they quoted $360. I called BS,
and they came back with $245. I said I could do $180, and they did! Already
out the diagnostic $100, I scored, and have you to thank!
You prefer greasable ujoints over non-greasable ujoints and why?
What size press do you have? 12 or 20 ton?
i have a jeep cherokee 1996 has the same problem
rotate it… also make sure there isnt a broken piece of metal in there for
some reason
Great video, thanks alot, saved some $ and got the satisfaction of doing
the repair.
Thank you for doing this
Thanks, much appreciated!
why do they use needle bearings instead of ball bearings?
I love what you do for us. You just solved much of the mystery that goes
with u joints. This time I say thanks not just to you but the mom and dad
that raised such a fine youn man.
great job but before putting the cap back you should put some grease
