Been waiting for an update on this. Wondering how you fit you retrofitted the latches . I did the same on my LJ but now tailgate has play since latches are tight enough. Looking forward for a continuation on this

Juan Barturen says:

Great job. Thank you. I have been thinking g of doing the same thing on my 91 YJ.

Joe Phillips-Shaw says:

Did you ever get the quick latches to work?

Nick Paul says:

Did you get the latches figured out?

Dan Fish says:

I want to do this with my JKU – I know keep would need a spare swing away from factory but I don’t understand why Jeep don’t do a drop down tail gate from factory

I hate torx bolts. After one got stuck on me when i bedlined my jeep (took out all backseat brackets/seatbelts) I declared war. I replaced every torx bolt I could find on my jeep. Windshield ones were also a pain, some needed to be drilled out. But no more torx!

Kevin Murphy says:

Well that was pretty damn cool! Hardest part maybe putting those latches in the tailgate!

cfvrq says:

When you were torching loose the hinge screw, wasn’t the EVAP canister (behind the rear passenger corner panel) in your way? Thanks for posting, great video!
