Going to attempt this after church… pretty simple and straight forward…
i’ll call you with questions.
My husband was doubtful but I was able to change my headlight bulb by
myself. it did take ma a solid hour but I’m not a mechanic at all. Thanks
for the instructions!
thanks for the video work like a charm just changed both low beams today.
Thanks, I was so frustrated trying to get the damn things out! I hate the
fact that the manual doesn’t tell you anything but how to drive to the
dealer to have them fix everything. As a woman I like fixing things on the
car versus getting ripped off by the dealer!
At 3:32, you twist the parking light clockwise to remove it; then, you
turned it counter clockwise to install. The text on the screen says
‘counter clockwise to remove, clockwise to instal’. Which is correct? I ask
because I purchased a discount replacment headlight housing, and the way
the hole for the parking light is cut, you can insert it but you can’t give
it the clockwise turn to tighten it because another part of the housing is
in the way.
1. I have a 2004 WJ like the one here. Just tried a restoration kit but it
didnt work because my headlights are cracked. Oxidation is on the Inside.
But thats okay because I want the Limited headlights for my laredo…Plenty
on Ebay! cheap 2. The one thats blinking faster…the bulb is out. Probably
your rear one. Sometimes you have to change the fixture that the bulb goes
in. They burn out easy on the WJ for some reason.
Very informative vid. Is it the same process with 2011 jeep grand cherokees?
@carquestions Does that mean that i really need to pull the whole assembly
out?
Thx for the Great Video. Two questions: 1. My lenses are foggy and look
dated, can you recommend an aftermarket replacement? 2. What does it mean,
when one signal blinks twice as fast as the other side? Is there a relay or
something I can switch? Thanks again.
thank you do much for this video. all three of my trucks lights went out
this week and it is easy to forget each car. thank you again
I’ve gone to two garages with an intermittent sidelight fault and neither
knew how to get to it. I also went to a Jeep web site but couldn’t get an
answer. Thank you for this extremely helpful video, shown so clearly I
think I may even be able to do it myself. Regards, briber
Just to add my thanks for taking the time to make this video – absolutely
perfect!
@carquestions Thanks for this video, i found it very helpful. one concern
of mine is that i bought new bulbs but the connecting port is curved not
straight. Would that matter? i tried installing it without pulling the
whole assembly since i couldn’t pull it out. i got the old bulb pulled out
and replaced with the new one. i got the bulb in but couldn’t turn to lock
it in place.
THANK YOU, EXCELLENT VID.
The bulb and every tiny part of it must be exactly the same as the old one
– check your manual for the right bulb – sounds like you have the wrong
bulb – it fits in and you give it a slight twist – if not you might have
the wrong bulb even though it looks close. Get the whole assembly out –
pull harder or get someone to help – the pins are rusted likely making it
harder to pull out.
thanx….excellent manual video
Just wanted to thank you for your vid and saving me some money. Thank you.
I did the change in less than 15 minutes. You da Man!!
Thanks for the video.. Helped a lot with the Overland
Thanks Marc You just saved me a lot of time explaining how to do this! 🙂
Looking forward to more Jeep how to videos! 🙂
No problem – glad to help
Gook tip
oh yeah. freedom edition! i got the black freedom edition, and had to check
to make sure i wasnt forgetting a bolt or something. man thats a hard pull
on those headlights
thanks!
great video
I followed this to the letter. I got my Driver-Side Headlight out but the
Passenger-Side won’t pull out! What can I do to get it out without damaging
it?
