alright thanks man

Bullshitkorner says:

at the wrecking yard your looking at 40-75 bucks for a motor i wouldn’t pay anymore than what it’s worth as scrap metal

Ryan Atnip says:

I was thinking about getting a scrap motor myself, maybe if I’m lucky a 4.0L, and break it down as well. How much on avg do you think a blown engine would cost me?

Bullshitkorner says:

I bought a broken down go-cart at the age of 12 and got a book on how to repair small motors and that’s how it all started

Bullshitkorner says:

depends how long the headers have been in the block, my stock bolts came out smoothly you may get lucky but one never knows until you start the project

Ryan Atnip says:

Just out of curiosity, how did you learn so much about cars/welding/painting/ect?

Ryan Atnip says:

yeah I figured as much, unfortunately this is my DD but if I find a free weekend I might be up to the challenge. I’m just worried about bolts snapping on me, especially the header bolts into the block

Bullshitkorner says:

outside the jeep it was easy, trying to do it in the engine bay would be a pain in the ass as the intake and exhaust share some of the same bolts

Ryan Atnip says:

I was thinking about putting banks headers on my 4.0L TJ once my current stock headers decide to crack, how difficult is it to remove the intake/exhaust manifold? I don’t have much mechanical experience but I’m willing to learn, am I putting myself in a world of trouble?

Bullshitkorner says:

well i’m glad these videos will help, I don’t think i’d do anything different if i had to do it over. i’m sure there are easier ways to remove the motor but this way worked best for me. you will need the e12 wrench if you are trying to remove the top engine bolts of a e12 socket which i used to get to them from under the jeep with the help of lowering the transmission. those bolts and the exhaust bolts are the worst to deal with.

Never the less, I’m thankful that you had such good timing posting these videos I randomly found. I have a ’99 TJ with the 4.0L that just recently shit out on me last week. I think it’s a broken piston skirt or rod, but I ordered and paid for a motor today and it will be my absolute first time removing or installing a motor–period. This certainly helps. Any tips on things you’d do differently if you did it over again? Did you label or organize anything you removed with the need to reinstall?

Bullshitkorner says:

yes I have a temper and when things don’t go well i get pretty angry

adamlyon says:

You used the word fuck quite a few times once you got mad.. lol!
