Doing the Radiator on a JKU with a automatic transmission and AC is a big job to say the least. This is no small job and will take a few hours of labour. the JKU Radiator diy I would say the hardest tasks are the bolts holding the transmission cooler in place, and the bolts holding the lines. Having the Radiator leak is a very common issue with these JKU’s with people saying every few years they start to leak.

What is the worst is how common it is for a JK to spring a radiator leak. Due to the open grill and stones flying into the Rad – Jeep finally closed up those openings in the grill.

You don’t have to take that strip off the top of the fan. Unplug the fan and pull the fan out. It’s already unbolted from the radiator and it’ll give you more room to pull and replace the radiator

Jude Bayer says:

Going to be going through this on my 2015 JKU next weekend. Is it necessary to remove the transmission oil cooler off the air conditioning cooler to remove the radiator?

Dan Hambrick says:

Having to take off a ton of crap just to get to the radiator really sucks…..
