DIY Auto: Dash Upgrade. White gauge installation on 1990 Jeep Cherokee XJ.

I wanted to spruce up the looks of my 22 year old dash. Installed white gauge face-plates, stainless steel insert and painted the needles pink. Looks pretty!

Ciaphas Cain says:

How hard would it be to get the gauges to run in a red color, like the
gauges out of an 1980s transam ?

Read the comments for a web address. Didn’t I post a link at the end of the
video? Would you like me to send you a post card invitation with the
address printed on it?

Klondike Mike says:

Already noted below in comments. I had a junk-yard pull that I worked on
before I worked on my original dash with the 202 reading.

Klondike Mike says:

Good observation. I was wondering how long it was going to take for someone
to notice. I was using a junkyard pull to do my initial preparation.

Klondike Mike says:

Yea, we already answered this before in previous comments below.

TF3XON says:

Hi, where did the stainless steel overlay come from?

Cody Bartz says:

where did you find one that say xj on them i cant find them

Klondike Mike says:

Hater … you are entitled to your opinion but it looks really good on this
end.

neo71665 says:

Would have been a good time to put some cool white LEDs in there and never
have to worry about blown bulbs. Wish I would have done both when I swapped
my blazer gauges.

Riskteven says:

Oh, how I hated those light bulbs! LEDS are fantastic! There have been
intensive LEDS for ages before 1990 (Not white but the important thing is
that the gauges and levers are visible in the dark), and yet, those stupid
car electric engineers did not even pretend such LEDs existed!

Klondike Mike says:

I aim to please. Thanks for the comparison.

djtechnics97 says:

Klondike Mike says:

I’ll put a link to the JeepForum on the end of my video.

zeecherokeeman55 says:

looks good !Now you have over 100,000 miles less too

Klondike Mike says:

This has already been addressed many times already in previous comments.
The dash that I was working on during the video was a “pull” from the junk
yard. The “real” dash was installed in the end.

Mustang6504 says:

Dan Scott says:

Klondike Mike says:

I did not change any bulbs. I thought about LED’s but decided against.

Dan Scott says:

Nice well the gauges look nice, Im gonna do something simalar on my 2000.

Klondike Mike says:

… Was their any adhesive on the white faces? A little two-sided tape was
used on the 2 large gauges.

SuperDagod1 says:

I have a 2001 xj, just took out my gauge cluster and one of the bulbs needs
to be replaced. I wonder if auto zone sells them.
