Yep. Minute I saw what was going on (been there) simply said go ahead, pull out the dash. Fix it. That's how much I appreciated my Grand Cherokee Ltd. Lived in mountains, that Jeep handled everything I put it through.
finally had to "put it down" after 400K miles. The memories of off roading with it remain with me always. Wish I had another. Mine was a 1999.

Mr Classic says:

Blend door failure. Not an easy thing to fix. There is a blend door calibration function by using the knobs. You can cut thru the airbox and replace the doors with a kit.

Tim C says:

PWM – Pulse Width Modulation. The percentage of high time vs the percentage of low time on a signal. Its used to control power / speed on digital systems.

Cassette tapes in the glovebox whaaa

Done this 3 times in my 2002 Dodge Ram truck. Check plastic doors bread where the actuator inserts. If I have to do it again, I'll be using metal doors!

I'm so lucky to have found a really good mechanic near me. But in 4 months I'll be moving closer to Ray, and I know what shop I'm going to use if I need it then!

David Elkin says:

Ray sir, have you ever replace a clutch kit on a 2008 Toyota Corolla

electroshed says:

Hydraulic fan!? broken flaps and blend doors, this has nightmare written all over it!

my surly trucker says:

Well done good diagnosis

Blitz6804 says:

19:35 More power to you, Ray… any time I need to get close to a spinning fan, it freaks me out quite a bit. I fear finger tips flying off.

Trent Bowen says:

The package construction for ventilation in dash systems is a terrible design. They use small delicate parts to direct the air flow and then make it almost impossible to service those parts if they break. Great job running through the diagnostics steps on this one Ray.

pillsburied says:

Chrysler engineer #1: "But there's no way to make it leak. It's a simple fan."

Chrysler engineer #2: "You must be new here. Hold my beer."

TOM2RN says:

Was that a cassette tape in the glove box?
