Jaguar XK 150 OTS ( Problems With Upgrades )

Now we are getting close to finishing the car, Issues like this are coming to light. In retrospect i should have checked that the lock nut went all the way down the thread and that the speedo cable would fit the T5 gearbox but with so much time & effort put in over the last 5 years i missed it.

Nice to see the progress. I like the new prop rod location. As you say it is in the way on either side anyway.

Morning Dave. You're bound to have these little snags but , the bonnet stay . If it sits between the cam covers is there a chance it could arc out on the spark plugs ? Just a thought ….. lf you cranked the rod at the bonnet end it would rest well away from the spark plugs .Cheers.

Watching you build this Beautiful Car from what was needed, the upgrades were Great and I wonder how many XK-150 owners are copying some of those "upgrades"? don't beat yourself up on a little old Lock Nut !!!

HiDave. These problems keep occuring. Sure you will get over them. Steering lock. Is it worth checking the threads with a thread guage to make sure they exactly match. Also measure across in different places with a vernier for any machining error. We have used thresd scrapers in the past to get out of trouble. Cables. There is a firm here called Johnsons Cables who will make any type of cable you want. Also Speedograph-Richfield have done instruments for me and made a good job. If the square end is too big can you carefully grind it down a bit. Regards, David.
