Jaguar XJ8 Antenna repair. Stripping the motor and replacing the antenna mast.

In this video I fix the aerial antenna on the XJ8. What appeared to be an easy fix quickly turned into a much bigger job. This involved stripping out the boot lining and removing the aerial motor, stripping it down and replacing the antenna mast and then putting everything back.

Thank you. The antenna is huge! Looks like a Ham operator or CB radio antenna…hate it, but looks like your antenna is same as mine. I thought the repair shop screwed up and gave me the antenna off of a big rig, but I guess not.

But what is the SIZE of the nut bezel? That's what I've been trying to find out to r/r my own broken mast. It's too large for the largest (1/2" and 16 mm.) wrenches in my set.

Thank for this video. my radio does work. suggested that the Booster is the problem. The wipes if you are referring to the Auto, I found the same having a mind operating on it's own. According to the video handover book on YouTube it is when the water is moving over the sensor is when it is detected the water. I notice that the window is somewhat full and nothing until I go over a bump. Or the wiper will go when I believe it is not enough water.

Buying one tomorrow and the Antennas Broke. Thanks.

You are so right…old cars will always need work and you so need to enjoy working on them.
Loved your video…so natural and just like the rest of us

Captain Billy64 says:

I have a 1994 XJS and your instructions worked great. The antenna retracts perfectly but it extends less than halfway. Do you have any idea why it would not fully extend?

John James says:
