Changing windshield wipers to Jaguar XE is a complicated process. First, it requires the wipers to be set to a “service position”. However, there is a critical engineering design failure that caused me to break my windshield. Hope this video brings more clarity to it and avoids other Jag drivers making the same mistake I did.
Thanks! Super helpful.
Thank you so much for sharing this warning!! I just changed my blades having watched your video. I can't believe Jaguar don't have multiple, redundant safeguards against this!
Thanks for this video. I never would've figured this out
How did you remove the wiper adapter from blade
Thanks for your tips and these truly saved me from some potential troubles!
After watching your video, what I did to avoid the auto stop feature of the car was: when the wiper has already been set to the service position, I stepped on the brake pad and press the start/stop button one more time to start the engine. I found that the wipers were kept intact at the service position after the engine is started.
It seemed that when the engine is running, the "auto stop" feature is disabled. Therefore I could take as much time as I wanted to change the wiper blade.
Same here. I checked first to see how long they would stay in the service position. It is only a few minutes and the car automatically shuts down, which causes the wipers to move back to their parked position. It’s a little fiddly to change the blades with the wipers parked but it certainly is possible. If you want to use the service position then a sheet of heavy cardboard on the windshield will help protect it should the wiper arms drop down unexpectedly.
changed mine with wipers in parked position. No problem other than getting the old ones off the wiper arm. First time change.
