Are there any improvements in the new Jaguars?

Wyatt McGeary says:

Hey scotty, I just finished a head rebuild on my 1992 VW Corrado VR6. I put
new intake valves, valve springs, timing chain guides, gaskets, etc etc.
Anyway, it had sat outside for about 2.5 months and the first time I drove
it, it had a noticeable lack in power. The idle was a little lumpy like,
but not horrible. While driving, the car died on me and I tried to restart
it while moving, but it wouldn’t. So I coasted into a parking lot and I am
getting the car towed to my place. While in the lot, I found these
things…. I am getting good spark and the engine turns over nicely. Does
it sound like a bad fuel pump to you?

larry Spiller says:

I have a 2007 avalanche that starts rough almost always. A mechanic told me
the likely cause was that the fuel stopper valve was sticking and not
holding the fuel in the line and letting it flow back into the tank making
the start up take much longer to crank over. It takes 5-7 seconds to start.
I am wondering if I could possibly fix this valve instead of buying a brand
new 500 dollar pump. Also while running the engine never seems starved and
hasn’t died on me. Sometimes the vehicle does a perfectly normal start but
it is maybe 1/10th of the time

what did you talk about with the dolphin?

craze1701 says:

All the “luxury” brands are not worth it. Lexus, Acura, Cadillac, Infinity,
etc. have comparable cheaper counterparts.

mclaine33 says:

Jaguar is one of the biggest POS cars you can own….A relative of mine use
to own one and only had it for a year before he sold it. The oil changes
alone cost around $95-100! And I should mention he is a doctor making
plenty of $ so cost wise it wasn’t even a problem for him. He just didn’t
want to keep paying rip off prices for anything that needed fixing/changing
on the car.

bmwmsport11 says:

this is exactly why Land Rover/Jaguars are known to be expensive to repair.
its like the engineers are designing these in their sleep. dont they ever
think that the fuel pump MIGHT die, and that stashing it high up into the
car is going to be a pain to repair? i guess thats why these cars lost
values so quickly.

Guitarhero1000 says:

Too bad Ford really dropped the ball on Jaguar…Who owns them these days?
Still Ford?

silveryblue2003 says:

Mechanic for 46 years, you had to be at least 15 years old so 46+15=61, you
look good for your age, would never thick your 61..aprx.

BLUESTAR says:

xcmskim4 says:

you and your hatin’ european cars

richard evans says:

Hi scotty, I take it you work on a lot of new cars. I’ve noticed that
automakers have slowly stopped putting tranny dipsticks on their vehicles.
My question is do you see any new cars that still have tranny dipsticks or
have the engineers conpletely gone away from using trans dip sticks?

fisher white says:

mr kilmer how long can a toyota fuel pump last ? corolla
270k now

TheCobruhAlienat0r says:

So if the car sputters and barley goes when you give it gas could that mean
its the fuel pump as well? My grandmother has an 01′ Corolla and she never
really maintained it, tires are almost bald, drivers door handle has been
broken for over a year on the inside and out, and the check engine light
has been on for a couple of years and she never got it fixed. Now it dies
when you give it gas or it just won’t go unless you repeatedly tap the gas
pedal. She gave up on driving it and is driving our other car now, I doubt
she’ll ever get the corolla fixed.

manny diaz says:

hey scotty… I have a 2003 f150 Lariat.. and it starts good… but the
gage is not working I know it has gas… I check the fuses all good…
replace the fuel pump. and still not working.. can you please help me…

Toonses says:

Wow Scotty you’re filthy rich to be going on vacations every month.

edd hernandez says:

Have you seen the new german car’s? Are they any better than the old ones
from a couple of years ago? What do you think about audi.

ajuk1 says:

I take it there’s no point changing the fuel filter?

Yannick de Vries says:

This is a Ford essentially. Just sayin’ 🙂

I was wrong sorry, it’s just based on the CDW27-platform.

asustech007 says:

Scotty, my neighbor has a I believe a 97 or 98, can’t remember actual
year, Silverado four wheel drive truck that quits on the highway but hasn’t
ever quit if he just drives around town. When it does quit after being on
the highway usually around ten miles or so, the fuel pump won’t come on,
but when it sets for some time the pump kicks on and the truck starts right
back up. One time he said it quit and he checked the fuses and found a ECM
1 fuse blown but the fuel pump fuse was ok, he changed the bad fuse and it
started right up, but it hasn’t ever blown a fuse since yet it still quits.
You think perhaps the pump is gong bad? I do know for a fact when the truck
does quit, the pump will not come one cause I was with him one time just to
make sure of it. Most people have been telling him it’s the pump, but
then I keep asking myself why that ECM 1 fuse got blown in the first place
and then never blew again? Does that side of the ECM control the fuel pump?

William Todd says:

This is another reason not to buy these overpriced “luxury” cars.

DanofNJ says:

Same issues with the C5 Corvettes! What a pain in the @%#.

Matthew Moore says:

Also a quick way to tell is get somebody to crank it wile you smack the
bottom of the tank with a rubber mallot.. if it suddenly starts working.
it’s defiantly a fuel pump issue. :)

thekillersnake94 says:

First Mercedes-Benz and now Jaguar. What’s next you want us to stay away
from. A Yugo GV. Just messing with you. Thanks for the tip.

Mig Eazy says:

Scotty i love you

U2Jaime1317 says:

So we learned 2 things today! How to check for a bad fuel pump, and not to
buy a jaguar!

MrNotorius5500 says:

Same deal with some late model Cadillacs. Gotta yank out the entire rear
subframe assembly to reach the fuel tank to reach the fuel pump.

ps3fanboy1885 says:

Ya I just replaced the fuel pump in my buddys 88 camaro and you have to
take the exhaust and rear axle out of it to do it but I just cut a small
flap in the trunk pulled out the old one stuck in the new one much easier
that way.

Paul Richardson says:

Thats what the mecanic used on my van, it runs and cranked, but the gauge
showed zero likes your gauge is showing. I will be getting it checked out
this week at a friend I know, he is been a mechanic for over 25 years. I am
hoping its something simple like plugs or plug wires, he says it sounds
like an electrical problem. I am glad you have these videos, they are very
helpful. Thank you.

30GB says:

My dad just cuts the floor and makes a door, after he just tack welds it up
and seals it with silicone. It was an old car that was almost going to the
wrecking yard anyways also it was our car, wasn’t a customers.
