How to Replace Jaguar XJ6 X300 Series Fuel Pump "The Easy Way"

An unofficial DIY guide to replacing the fuel pump(s) on X300 series Jaguars (XJ6, XJR, XJ12, MY 1994-1997). This is strictly an unofficial DIY hack. It is absolutely not sanctioned by any official mechanic or Jaguar Cars LTD. Undertake this procedure strictly at your own risk. Be extremely careful when working near liquid fuel and fuel vapors! The objective here really is not to have to remove the fuel tank, and have the ability to replace the fuel pump quickly say if you broke down on the side of the road. This does involve cutting away at the metal base of your car’s parcel shelf however, which many may deem highly undesirable, but it has its advantages. As such this video is for reference and entertainment purposes. It also gives you a good view of the inside of the fuel tank in X300 Jaguars.

Please note that some X300 Jaguars have two fuel pumps, some have one. All XJ6 3.2 and 4.0 models have a single pump. The supercharged XJR6 and XJ12 have two fuel pumps. The car in this video is a MY 1994 XJR6.

I just did this and it was very easy. I did not drain the fuel but instead put sheet metal over the gas tank between the area to be cut and ran a high speed fan during the cutting process to blow any vapors away from the area. also used a non metal cutting disk to prevent sparks.
