Fixing My Daily Driver Jaguar and Generous Subscibers

Fixing My Daily Driver Jaguar and Generous Subscibers

In the previous video I diagnosed a bad alternator on my daily driver 1975 Jaguar XJ6. After the video I was contacted by a subscriber who had a few alternator I could try when fixing my daily driver Jaguar. I’ve also had another generous subscriber send me something very cool in the mail.

Julie K. says:

Adam, I am the proud owner of an '05 XJR and keep having the itch to add an older Jag to the stable. If I keep watching this channel it is going to happen sooner than later. Keep up the good stuff. Enjoyable to watch you keeping them alive!!

M S says:

So my Jaguar is XJ6 with a 4.2 engine. When I am driving at the low speed or stuck in traffic with AC running and my electric cooling fans on my gauge reads below 13v and it goes to red showing a reading of just 10v. I tested the battery and alternator so they told me it was okay. Is this normal or do you think that alternator is getting weak?

vegananimalrights says:

Great channel and your English is better than mine and I am English.
Any way what about showing us a coolant change on the XJ6?

john piper says:

Donโ€™t forget to update the Jaguar forums.
Many will follow you there as well.

Steve Pike says:

Nice one Adam, great news the alternator got you out of trouble. keep the videos coming, do you get time to do any paying work ๐Ÿ˜‰

John Davey says:

Hi Adam. The alternator failed on my Series 2 when l drove back from a show (12 years ago). It started over charging , It was a 30 mile return journey. I could smell rotten eggs, it was the battery starting to overheat ! I just kept going and when l got home l parked the Jag' in the garage. You could hear the battery boiling like a kettle ! I have experienced a battery explosion so decided not to touch anything. 6 hours later l thought l'd check the car and l could still hear the battery boiling!!! And you could still smell rotten eggs ! Thankfully by morning the smell and noise had stopped. A local electrician repaired the alternator for ยฃ20. Take care and stay safe. How has Covid 19 effected you , l'd imagine your quite well isolated.

Gray Fool says:

Nice. Steve sounds like a great guy. Good to see your charging issue fixed too, excellent. I had a ride in a XJ12C many years ago, only for about 10 miles or so. It was a superb car and made a huge impression on me. I would love one but they are now way beyond my budget. Oh well, off to get yet another lottery ticket.

Jeff Harrison says:

Enjoyed the video and congratulations on the seats and alternator. Love these cars!

Amirz says:

Hello Adam. Your dashboard is super clean and without any cracks. Did you change it?

saftevand says:

I'm gonna share your channel with the Danish Jaguar Club, think there are a lot of potential fans/subscribers ๐Ÿ™‚

Adrian Dean says:

Great Donation. Cool seats. They look comphy . You should break down the old alternator see what the problem is. If its only bushes fix it. Always good to have spares.

Jensen Healey says:

Here in the USA, most auto parts stores will test an alternator or starter for free if you bring them in (already off the car). They secure them into a stand, hook up the appropriate wiring connections, and then spin the unit. This tells you in the case of an alternator if it is charging as designed rather than guessing about it's condition. Isn't this sort of service available in Sweden?

caseytailfly says:

Back on the road, very nice!
