Learning about cars, how to check tire pressures!

I know absolutely nothing about cars and this is a huge costly problem. It means whenever I have a car issue, I end up dropping that car into a garage to repair it and that gets real expensive, real fast. Not only are you paying 50% in labor costs alone, you’re also paying the insane markups they charge for parts and services (including services you don’t need!).

So I’m determined to learn all about cars myself. Learn how to service them, how to repair them, how to accessorize them and how to restore them. I may make a few mistakes along the way but I’m determined to stop being milked and bilked by excessive mechanic bills. If I can learn to do this, anyone can learn to do this.

So with that in mind, please join me on my journey into mastering the mystical magical mysterious world of mechanical motors!

In this first video, we’re starting simple, we’re looking at tire pressures!

My favorite tire inflator is this Jayco. You can plug it into mains power or plug it into your 12V socket in your car. This means it’s ideal for home use or on the road use:

My rule of thumb is 32 psi if you are unsure of the recommended pressure should be. Tire wear seems to be pretty even at this pressure, I’ve found.

Hi mate! Nice first upload! Not just informative, but also funny! I worked in a tire shop for a while, and we didn't know if we should use the sticker or the tires recommended pressure either! Using the sticker is great until somebody orders extra large tires! Then you might find they're a little low, and it's all guesswork from there. If it doesn't look weird leaving the shop, we don't have problems!
