This also happens when adjustable clutches have no free-play, the crank is constantly pushed forward due to the TO pressure against the clutch asm, you’ll see this on Troopers up to –87′ with 4ZD1’s, and even later on pick-ups.
I don’t remember seeing this on the 1.8 or 2.0L engines.

91 Trooper 4ZE1 260,000 miles, just getting started…

Yeah Rob, if the oil level is maintained, oil changed regularly, and you don’t ride the clutch, or if your truck is an automatic you won’t have this problem.

mine has 259076 miles on engine so i think its had a good lifespan but she is still chuggin along !!!
