Good information, except ant-seize should be applied to the threads of the
new sensor.

ClarkW66 says:

I’m really sorry about getting back to you so late. Yes, it should have 2
before the converter and two after the converter. On the reader that I
used, it did indicate which sensor needed to be replaced. Now it didn’t say
if it was the one on the left or right, just that it was either before or
after the converter. Hope that helps

ClarkW66 says:

@Duckyistrippin , great input on the Autozone, I wasn’t aware of them doing
that for FREE. Good information.

TheCoolfez says:

@jimmy101112000 Often times, you have to reconnect the battery for the
check engine to reset. But make sure you know the radio code, if you have a
anti theft radio because when the battery is diconnected, it engages the
code and the radio is un-usable until the code is put in. You can find the
code by calling the car manufacture or check the website and have your VIN
number handy

Hey buddy I have a 1997 Tahoe. My service engine light is flashing so I
took it to autozone. The code on there computer came up as one of my
cylinders not firing do u no what this could be?

Warterdesmanne says:

@DreamsellerDBD This is useless. I would hope for a better comment from
someone that is TEACHING… This is not the be all and end all of how-to
videos. Why don’t you think of something helpful to add instead of being a
total douche? Or you are just one of those mechanics where everything that
is done by someone else is wrong because you didn’t make money off of
suckering them into paying you for shite… Please try to be a better role
model for the future generations of auto repair techs.

elitecssplayer says:

where did you get your sensor?

Neburyar Crawford says:

I have a bad sensor same one actually…what can not changing it cause??

Sneah Sneah says:

The replacement seems to be simple! I had to paid $50.00 just to have it
installed w/out part included

HeyAinokea says:

My ck engine light stayed on for a month, picked up a bottle of lucas and
dumped whole bottle into tank and filled with gas. Run truck hard on the
way home. Next day.,. ck engine light was gone. Did’nt have to change o2
sensor nor have a tune up. Truck 13 years old. I still have original belts,
hoses, spark plugs … etc. bet you can’t say that with an americam made
truck.

djjoser1 says:

The first thing you may want to do after you determine what the problem is
with the scanner, is to disconnect your battery. Especially if you are
working with an electrical matter, such as an O2 sensor. You can
accidentally short something out if it’s not done right.

xexodusx says:

i just had my o2 sensor replaced i did it in 5 mins on my bmw e39. got them
at pepboys for $85 upstream. now i dont know if i should replace the
downstream one.

Pacheco212 says:

It is better because if you replace just one if the check engine comes on
that maybe means that you didn’t took out the bad O2 sensor. While you are
at it, you can get the problem out from the first time. come on, it is
better to replace them than messing up your car.

conkerwar says:

so thats wat my truck needs thanks(:

I have a ’95 Jeep Grand Cherokee v-8 5.2 limited. I just purchased it but
I’m having problems with it shutting off when I start it and it only does
this once a week . It sounds like it wants to stay on but it shuts off. It
was parked for 2 years without use but runs good this is my only main issue
with it. Could it be the 02 sensor? If yes which one should I change cause
it has two?

Rachet says:

can the o2 sensor cause a knocking in you crankshaft? or is that just the
knock sensor?

U KAY says:

Well explained. I love the meticulous steps you took. Thank you. I own a

Tommie Sweat says:

@Cooki3Dough07 Sounds like your shit out of luck.

ClarkW66 says:

@karonvick If it were me, I would give it a try, worst case you spend $50
learning.

scottyrabbit says:

wow…a repair shop just quoted me $750 to replace two front oxygen
sensors. WTF are they smoking?? It appears that most repair shops quote 1
hour labor for this…and you did it in 5 min. Assuming I am a noob, how
long would it take me?

ArtixWarhorse says:

Thanks! Great info.

ClarkW66 says:

Great input on the Autozone doing that for FREE, I wasn’t aware of that,

MrStockholmz says:

i have a 2001 gmc sonoma and i cant find where it is. do you have any idea
where it could be?

ClarkW66 says:

@rmm029 That works too. You just save about $400

hardcoredegree says:

@ClarkW66 whats good?

Donald Cagle says:

Wow, Very well done, video production as well.

Marilyn Jenkins says:

Thanks! On my way out to change my bank 2 sensor 1 upstream on my Ford
Windstar. I borrowed the special socket form O’Reily’s, you get all your
money back to rent it when you return it so it’s free access to a really
helpful tool! Thanks again for the post, I’m a visual learner and reading
step by step how to do something is great, but seeing it done is so much
better-love the internet!

ClarkW66 says:

@Cooki3Dough07 Wow, you have a lot going on there, been there, done that.
Sounds like you have some other electrical issue going on that could be
providing false information. As bad as I hate to say this, you may want to
just take it to a Dodge dealer and let them dig into it more, it sounds
like something that is out of the norm.

ClarkW66 says:

That would be before the Converter

theweekthatis says:

@ClarkW66 This is very true, I had a cheap, FAI, one fail in a matter of
weeks. It actually fell apart into the exhaust.

jrock222 says:

so my car has 3 codes that a malfunction but……its a in sensor 1 bank 1
so when i replace this old sensor out should everything be fine

LawlietOne says:

does any one knows where is the O2 sensor on a Chevy Suburban TBI “92 i
tried to find is below the passenger side on the exhsaust pipe but can’t
find it any help?

ClarkW66 says:

Chance are you do. There should be 2 on the left and 2 on the right. Unless
you had your exhaust system customized.

J Black says:

what is the name of that tool you used to take out the O2 sensor and can i
get one at like autozone or carquest?

wafrederick says:

Sometimes the blue tipped wrench called a torch oftenly has to be used.I
see the blue tabs on GMs for the electrical connections,I cut them off and
throw them away.Don’t need them.ALso,don’t ever buy a Bosch oxygen
sensor.Nothing but junk and Bosch’s auto parts are nothing but junk

Luweee28 says:

@ClarkW66 my 2006 hyundai santa fe has O2 sensor problem too. its says Bank
1 Sensor 1. Where can i find it? is it after or before the catalyc
converter? please help me so i can save money. i will just buy the sensor
from hyundai and i replace it my self. thanks.

likeminas says:

very informative. thanks

sasukeKILLSnaruto1 says:

thanks for the vid ima replace my headers this helps on my 240sx

Marilyn Jenkins says:

The tool is great, the sensor is really rusted on! I’m spraying it with
WD40 and havn’t budged it at all! It’s hard to get a lot of muscle into it
laying on your back under the van like that and I don’t wanna knock it off
the jack stands. I’m gonna check with O’Reilys and see if there’s something
stronger I can use to penetrate the rust.

ClarkW66 says:

Great input on the Autozone doing that for FREE, I wasn’t aware of that,
thanks for sharing.

KingGoldChains says:

where can i get one of these code readers

rmm029 says:

I just replaced mine last week on my 97 Yukon. I didn’t know that they made
a socket for the O2 sensor so I just cut the wires off and slipped on the
closed end of the wrench. Good Video.

ClarkW66 says:

That’s quick. Great job !

jimmytwotimez says:

ClarkW66 i meant to thank you a couple of weeks ago. Your video was a big
help for me when i changed the 02 sensors on my car. Granted i have a
regular car but all vehicles pretty much have the same setup for o2 sensors.

chancesGLEC14 says:

Well my dear friend to you i tip my hat, and say thank you :). Where can i
get a code reading tool like your orange one?
