Its the timing belt tensioner, if you take the top section of timing belt
cover off you will see belt flopping…I tightened mine once and it went
away…back again,,,,dont know if just that part can be changed out instead
of the whole belt….
from personal exp I’ve had a car that rod knocked and around 2500rpm was
not as loud and now have a car with timing tensioner knock and the belt is
lose on front tight on the back…. i hope Im wrong but that sounds more
like rod… My car has metal shavings around timing belt can take the
timing belt cover off and take a look Can prolly answer you ? Maybe hope it
helped
