Daniel Carlson says:

My Maxima is leaking a bit of oil and I think it’s coming from the Rear
Valve Cover Gasket. I didn’t think I would find anything about how to
replace it, but this guy covered everything (Thanks CarsNToys). I think
I’m going to try and give this a shot on my own! Wish me luck!

CarsNToys says:

You’re welcome. Glad you were able to tap a new thread.

CarsNToys says:

You’re welcome. Thanks for the feedback.

Andy Canion says:

Very nice video! I’m planning to do this on my 97 Maxima and was wondering
about the hoses you cut. Just so I’m sure, can you list the 4 hoses that
were cut?

omer pasha says:

Hi wanted to ask if you can upload a video on changing the pcv valve on 4th
gen maxima thanks in advance

neilzep says:

HI cars, I got oil in my top left spark plug(chamber filled). Will this be
considered a valve cover replacement along with spark plug seal
replacemen?. I blew a HD past summer that triggered all this.

CarsNToys says:

Just go to your local auto part store and they’ll cut a new hose to length.
Double check the diameter of the hose, but if memory serves, it’s 5/8″

CarsNToys says:

To be honest, I’m not sure what an honest mechanic would charge to complete
this job. I’m sure it wouldn’t be cheap.

Jerome Ian Tabaosares says:

Where did you buy the spark plug tube seals? Thanks for the video brother.

castro100178 says:

local auto shop wanted.. I changed the front about 3 months ago, took about
45 minutes. the rear seemed to be complicated.. thanks again for this
post..

CarsNToys says:

Wells is fine. Cheers.

CarsNToys says:

Mr Gasket makes a kit that includes all 0f the gaskets

Heriberto573 says:

Gracias Amigo…………I just finished the job…….torking the cover
bolts …made me break one…….drilled and tapped the hole to a
5/16……went ot home depot and got me a bolt to fix it……….(chepo
tork wrech…..Harbor freight..)….but were back
running…..thanks……..

Americanflow says:

Hah I did the SAME thing. I still need to get the old bolt out so I can
replace it. I snapped it trying to use a 1/2inch torque wrench. It
obviously isn’t made for in/lb

hondaguy453 says:

Lol, I cut the coolant hose in the back of the IM and now I’m looking all
over for a new one…

CarsNToys says:

Thanks for commenting. Glad to help.

findingnimal says:

Maxitikos says:

My Maxima needs new coil packs. What kind should I buy. Dealership coil
packs or will Wells suffice?

castro100178 says:

thanks, you showed me a 400 dollar job. Im going to pocket alot of money

Chopin1397 says:

Be warned, not for the inexperienced. Experienced will find this difficult.
Hard part is 2 bolts near the firewall, 2 more with a small gasket. Small
hoses under plenum difficult. Found mechanic on craigslist who specializes
in maximas. I called he said, “DON’T CUT THE HOSES!” He was right. Not
necessary and will make the job a lot harder. When plenum disconnected and
free to move he was able to lift the plenum enough to expose the hoses and
get the curved needled nose in. Good video to start.

CarsNToys says:

Hello. You have three 5/16″ hoses and one 1/2″ hose. I’m going from memory
on this so double check the diameter when you remove the hoses.

SimpleTechGuy says:

Thanks for the Video. The detail was awesome! I really appreciate that you
took the time to video this and share it.

CarsNToys says:

No problem, Jake. Cheers

CarsNToys says:

Sure. I’ll have it uploaded shortly.

CarsNToys says:

Glad to help.

CarsNToys says:

You’re welcome. Glad to help.

CarsNToys says:

You’ll have to remove the valve cover to replace the spark plug tube seals.
Mr. Gasket sells a gasket kit that includes the front & rear valve gaskets
and the spark plug tube seals.
