NISSAN INFINITI G37 CRANKS BUT WON'T START DIAGNOSIS

In today’s video we take a look at a 2013 infiniti G37 with a V6 3.7l engine. The customers complaint is that the vehicle shut off while driving. Now the motor will crank but it does not start and run. From the sound of the way the engine cranks, it seems we may have a timing chain problem, but we have to run some diagnostic tests to be sure.

Great diagnosis but I can't believe they're just jumping straight to replacing the engine

Andrew721 says:

mine starts then instantly turns off cluster stays on everyting on just the engine shuts off, battery sparks are new, any ideas ? on idle car shakes (feels like it loses power as rpms drop) then power comes back up rpms go back to normal as well

I bet it was the fuel pump fuse that had burnt out

Tobias Collins says:

So I've got a question for you Eric.

2007 m35x
Drive shaft u-joint broke
Made a hole in the side of the bell housing.

Pieces of the bell housing damaged the starter.

Starter and drive shaft replaced.

Car was running fine before repair.

Now it just cranks but won't fire.

Garage gave up so I sent it to a dealer.

One guy said it's possible that the pieces of the bell housing may have bent a tab on the flywheel that has something to do with timing.

Does this sound logical to you?

Like I said, it was running and driving fine until the driveshaft u-joint broke.

K G says:

Replace the engine?

Luis Medina says:

if the timing is off, will it still throw codes for the camshaft sensors and crankshaft sensor?

I've got an Infiniti G35. I've worked on my own cars all my life. I've built about 8 engines. I would like to take every sensor on that G35 and shove them up in the engineers who designed that garbage. And I say "garbage" because anything that requires an engineering degree and a computer JUST TO DIAGNOSE a problem that has left you stranded is a piece of unreliable garbage. I'll take a mule over a thoroughbred any day.

Ethan Winters says:

Yoo there's no way dude, this just happened to my G37 yesterday and I'm glad to have found you

Osiris Perez says:

Nice video, I have a Nissan Altima 2009, it does the same but the motor sounds very good, no arrhythmia. Any suggestions? Will greatly appreciated. Thanks

Grimey gates e says:

Yoo where are you located

NemOzo O says:

I have a 2006 FX35, it has a good rhythm crank but won't start sometimes. It doesn't always happen and it does turn over after several try. Sometime stepping on the gas helps. Could the O2 sensor affect this issue?

Eric Yedloski says:

My Infiniti g37x just have oil pan and fuel injectors replaced and car won’t start as I’m starting it the light on the dash dim and turn of won’t start. Thought dead battery charged and tried to jump nothing. Tried stark plugs and we hear the fuel pump kick on. Maf sensors replaced map sensor replace. Car ran before injectors and oil pan was replaced

jeffrey goss says:

Jesus, that’s a dusty engine compartment. Another flood car?

Mobile Mike says:

You should check out the one I own my son was driving it and it quit had a crank sensor code ultimately unplugging the crank sensor makes the car run did a cam to cam correlation and they were pretty close did crank to cam correlation and I'm only getting five pulses out of the crank sensor engine runs pretty good with the crank sensor unplugged I get all the fun ones I'm starting to think that possibly somehow since it's a stick shift something got messed up on the flywheel signal but the car was running perfectly fine before this happened and it's been well maintained and I have no cam codes I've seen stretch timing chains on these things before but this one has got me scratching my head I'm using an old Genesis Evo lab scope 4 channel maybe I need a better scope these are one of the rare cars that will actually run without a crank sensor other problem is you can only crank this things for about 2 or 3 seconds until the starter signal kicks out with the crank sensor plugged in if I put in aftermarket crank sensor from O'Reilly's in it I can crank it as long as I want that's why I stick with Oe I wish there was an easier way to identify cam crank timing marks on these things this is an 08 Infiniti G37

My 2010 QX56 is giving a no key message and cut off and won’t come back on.

Uncle_mango says:

How do I get in contact with u

glenn bellman says:

I worked on one of these cars that had a cracked flywheel which was giving the crank sensor a erratic signal.

Rocket Small says:

where is the cam sensor/ crank sensor on this
