Time needed for bumper removal:
5 minutes if you’re a pro
30 minutes if you’re not so pro
Time needed for dent removal:
15 minutes
Tools Needed:
Flat Head Screwdriver
8mm and 10mm wrench / ratchet
Total Stuff Removed:
3 – 8mm nuts holding in rear light assembly (per side)
1 – 10mm screw in the bumper near wheel (per side)
2 – Quick clips in bumper revealed when light assembly is removed (per side)
4 – Quick clips for inside rear plastic trunk liner (both sides)
2 – quick clips under rear of bumper to left/right of license plate (both sides)
Steps for removing bumper:
Remove the net, carpet, and jack equipment carrying foam in trunk
Using a flat head, pop out 4 quick clips on rear of trunk (the 4 clips used to hold the net in place)
Remove plastic by prying up middle of plastic trunk liner w/ flathead – there are 4 attached clips to the plastic
Pull back carpeted board that’s covering the rear of the light assembly and unscrew 3 8mm bolts holding it in place
Pull off light assembly a few inches to reveal electrical plug and pop plug apart with a flat head
Remove 2 quick clips w/ flat head that are revealed now that the light assembly is out of the way
Under wheel well area, pull back protective sheathing near top edge of bumper to see 10mm bolt and unscrew. NOTE: There is an extra quick clip on the bottom edge of the bumper near the tire that needs to be removed. This is not shown in the video.
Under rear of bumper, on the sides of license plate underneath, there are 2 quick clips on the bottom that must be removed
Bumper can now be pulled halfway off – for full removal, repeat procedure for taking off light assembly, 2 quick clips, and 10mm
bolt under wheel
DONE – YOU ROCK!!!
Steps for removing dent:
When you can reach the inner part of the bumper by removing it, you can easily push out dents from the inside out.
The first dent I removed by boiling water and slowly pouring over for a while and then with gloves, I pushed hard to pop out the majority of dent.
Note: I like boiling water, as it isn’t hot enough to ever damage paint and allows me to get the fastest result. Care must be taken w/ heat guns.
The smaller parts of the dent I used a heat gun and a flat metal bar to gently push out and mold the dent as much as possible w/o damaging paint.
thank you so much !!!
