Want a problem solver… USB Rom… Google it. It’s a rom specifically
designed for in dash auto use. No need for power button or volume buttons.
It virtually redesigns how the tablet runs to act like it came in the
vehicle oem spec. Check my video of my old Nexus 7 in my jeep I sold.
You can also discard the battery and use the cars electricity instead too.
It’s pretty easy, all you need is wire to get it done, but about the car
getting hot inside and destroying the tablet eventually makes me want to
think about it.
Is it even necessary to wire the power and volume buttons? Cant you use
joycon to just digitally do it?
But then you read the operating temperatures for the Nexus 7 and see
its 0-40C or 32-104F, and realize that cars out in the weather exceed that,
and so shouldn’t be left permanently docked in any vehicle.
Use a Nexus 7 wireless charging magnetic mount instead, and put it in your
pocket when exiting the vehicle, that way you have a on-the-go tablet as
well.
Otherwise, be prepared for the device to overheat and also destroy its
lithium battery.
And for interfacing to your vehicle, just use a bluetooth to mini-stereo
adapter permanently installed in your vehicle to the factory system, easy
peasy. :)
Your Nexus 7 2012 is different then mine, I didn’t have a 4th button, rear
camera. Just looks way different

Why are you bashing other peoples installations obviously everyone is not
technically inclined like you. This made me dislike your video.

Why not just remove the connector and then replace it with a pin header?
Then you could have just had a disconnect with a really sturdy solder job.
Too bad you could not get a hold of an electrical connector for the
switches and just unplug that circuitry.

soon to be doing this in a 2000 ford explorer 🙂 when the screen gets here

screen on/off or whatever settings you like. I been using it for my car and
it works great.

sounds WAY easier to tap into the black connector at the board, keeping the
ribbon untouched. Thanks for posting your progress

not meaning to rain on your parade dude but soundman ca has made float
mounts for the I pad mini. and mighty car mods has installed a full size I
pad into a legacy.
