Harbor Freight has torque wrenches on sale. I’ll post their coupon on facebook and twitter.

CarsNToys says:

I have yet to do the rear shocks, but I imagine you should be able to rotate the strut mount. Have you tried a longer screwdriver to gain extra leverage? Also double check you have the correct part number for your vehicle.

177Dray says:

I mean CANT seem to adjust the mount the way you did.

Please help. Im replacing the rear struts of my 95 maxima. I bought complete strut to make it easy but then new strut dose not fit in right. I can seem to adjust the mount the way you did what are your suggestions?

nezerac says:

Ya people have been telling me for years buy a big heavy hammer. Watching that clip come out just sold me on it XD

CarsNToys says:

Glad to help, Dan. Cheers.

Dan Grobar says:

Thanks for the tips! I’ve always kind of wanted to do my own repairs, I just had no idea it could be so easy. Usually I think “oh man, I would do it myself, but I just don’t have the tools!”

CarsNToys says:

You’ll need a torque wrench. You can pick one up from Harbor Freight for under $20.

Dan Grobar says:

What’s the trick to being able to tell how many lb/ft are being applied to the bolts?

CarsNToys says:

It really isn’t a hard job. The main thing is taking your time and making sure the bolts are properly torqued.

Dan Grobar says:

This process is so simple, I feel stupid for buying another car when I could have replaced all four of my bad struts myself for barely $300… I didn’t want to spend 900 at a mechanic! and the new car turned out to be a piece of crap anyway!!

CarsNToys says:

Good stuff, Patrick. As long as you’re a subscriber that’s good enough for me. Cheers.

Patrick Keigher says:

thanks again !! only took 40 minutes.. btw you might wanna think about setting up a pay pal account ,, i would contribute to it ,, you saved my alot of money …

CarsNToys says:

Thanks, Patrick. I’ll upload a tune up video shortly. Cheers.

Patrick Keigher says:

Cant wait for how to tune up. (spark plug) video!!!

Patrick Keigher says:

Hi, no need to reply, just saw the year on the info pulldown. Thanks.

metro11223 says:

Great video. This is going to make it easy. What is the year of your Maxima this was done on? Thanks.

When an alignment is done on a macpherson strut car like this, what do they adjust to change the camber setting? The two bolts on the strut housing? Or is there something else that I’m not seeing. Thanks!

Rick Cobo Sr says:

Thanks for the quick reply. Just to be sure ill get the alignment done.

CarsNToys says:

It’s always a good idea to have an alignment done after you change anything suspension related, however, the repair manual doesn’t specifically state an alignment is required.

Rick Cobo Sr says:

Thanks for this video. Very helpful. My question: is it necessary to get s front end alignment after changing struts?
