Michael Brown says:

So when you do a brake job (which is what you need, as long as there is no leaks) you will force brake fluid out of the reservoir when compressing the caliper pistons.

Fee says:

Why air air bubbles bubbling out of your reservoir

Sam says:

Side note: usually when your brake fluid is low it usually means your brake pads have worn down and it has to use more brake fluid to make the pads contact the rotors. I would recommend checking your brake pads to see if they are worn down and replacing them first before adding fluid because usually replacing the pads will cause the fluid level to come back up. If you add it before replacing your pads it could cause too much brake fluid to be in your system putting a lot of pressure on your seals causing a seal on the piston/pistons in the calipers to possibly blow out to relieve the extra pressure or it could cause a seal in the master cylinder to blow out causing extra fluid to leak into the brake booster. If you checked the pads and they still have a lot of life left in them you may already have a leak somewhere in your system.

To EVERYONE! DO NOT DO THIS! If your brake light is on it could be a couple of things you need to look at first.1. Check your brake pads they may need replacing. As the brakes wear it will push the piston in the caliper inward which in turn will make the reservoir seem low. 2. Check to see if you have a leak. Adding fluid to a leaking system may cause a bigger issue. NEVER WASTE FLUID ON ANY PART OF THE VEHICLE! Brake fluid is very corrosive and will swell rubber and eat through paint and other materials. Traction control light is on which could mean your traction control is off. Hitting the button my remedy that issue if not to the dealer you go. Be safe out there kids.

Bobby Jackson says:

Stop that.. you shouldn’t ever have to add fluid to your brake fluid reservoir. Either your pads are worn down or you have a leak. Take it to a mechanic. Dont. Add. Fluid.
