Thanks for the excellent vid. Was VERY helpful!
how do you prevent the crank pulley from moving when you torque it back down
You really shouldn’t, unless you can thing of when your car breaking down is convenient for you. 🙂
Don’t forget a timing belt kit is a good idea. I think I have a link in the description for this car.
I got 120 tho miles on mine, can i wait longer? ty
that is the hydraulic timing belt tensioner. you will need to take it out and collapse the pin sticking out back into the assembly, which you can do with a large C-clamp tool or a vice. I think I put a link in the video to show how to do that. Or do a search for hydraulic tensioner.
What is the car part at 00:13 seconds that you talk about; that needs to be c clamped- what is it and whats it for?
Cam shaft pos sensor maybe
Idle control sensor was part of the problem still has no power tho and cuts out past half throddle all timeing marks are on checked a few vac lines all looks good if my intake manifold had a lead would that cause that
If all this started after doing the timing belt you need to double check the marks, if you haven’t yet. An Oxygen sensor should not cause your hunting idle issue. Maybe vacuum leak somewhere.
Now when I start it the idle jumps up and down for a min then it stops I can’t find what’s wrong no lights are coming on now help me please ?
??
Also I have an exhaust leak its after the cat tho thank you for any hints I’m from Harvard IL love your vids
I have a bank 2 sensor 1 code
I want to say its just cutting off would an 02 sensor cause this?
I went i have threw everything new plugs wires vac
Are you saying that you have double checked the timing marks after your problem with a misfire? Vacuum line off, or maybe a coincidence and you do have a plug or plug wire issue…
Any thoughts ?
I have the same motor in my Santa Fe I did my belt marks are all on its acting like a miss fire now when I put the peddle to the floor it does nothing can’t go past 65mph
It came of pretty easy, just slid this one back on, and I think that I torqued it down, that is what I try to do as a habit, along with a little liquid lock-tite.
Thanks a million!
Use the cam pulley bolt(s) to turn the cam(s) to line up the cam marks. Install the crankshaft bolt, maybe with a couple washers use the bolt to turn the crankshaft until the crankshaft timing mark lines up.
This one came right off for me with my hands
How do I lineup the timing marks. By turning the engine on and off until they’re in place?
Can you elaborate a little on that, please?
@Autotechviewpoint Ok, but do you still used a Crank Puller removal tool? This particular car is easy to get it off?
My information does not say it is pressed on, and no special tool is mentioned… But time/rust/crud get involved….
Well, I think the video showed that it just pulled off rather easily. My information does not say it is pressed on, and no special tool is mentioned… So I just put it on, surely zapped it with a air gun and torqued it down to finish.
The Crank Pulley is pressed on from what I understand.
do you tap the crank pully back on and zip it on with the bolt, or do you use a tool to get it back on?
