Hyundai repairs are the best repairs! Whether it’s a complete engine swap that only takes a couple hours start to finish or a simple fix like this E-CVVT cover it’s always well thought out, cheap, and easy. This 2015 Hyundai Sonata with the 2.4L is setting code P0010 (“A” Camshaft Position Actuator Circuit (Bank 1)). The plug in the end of the camshaft actuator fails and causes oil to enter the cover, creating an intermittent fault with the actuator. To fix it you just need to replace the plug and cover and it shouldn’t take long at all.

Kias and Hyundai sucks. Look how many recalls there are on these cars.
I'm actually on my 3rd Hyundai(2015 Sonata 2.0T with 146K miles) and you can't beat the longevity of these. I'm looking to get at least 200K out of mine before I fully retire it. Great vid!
Got a 2013 sonata with 180000 miles. Just got my first code. P0014.
I'll take that Hyundai for a $1
What was wrong with using a regular clamp on that cut?
You need a car dyno or a car treadmill in there so you dont have to drive it around to check if the check engine light comes back on.
Hold on. You're actually WEARING YOUR MERCH!?
I'm glad someone likes Hyundai. I hope you get to work on a 2nd gen Veloster turbo. Maybe do a dual catch can install or something. I have one and I'd like to see more work done on them from a channel I respect.
tree seeds, loved by many tree rodents.
Waiting for my 2012 to blow up for a free engine.
Hey JR I know this is slightly off-topic but I have a 2013 Hyundai sonata that I bought new in 2013 it has 117,000 miles on it and the engine locked and seized up last week they added an extended warranty and fix the car for free I picked it up today looking for something else though I don’t trust this motor.
This was worth the 500 I paid to get this fix, this was not a easy fix lmao!
I'm guessing the 147k miles was mostly highway miles ( an average of 24,000 miles a year/ 67 miles everyday for a year) But still if that is all the repairs for those miles that's pretty impressive. But I do question the rave for Hyundai and it's engineers when they wouldn't sell you the tool you said you needed to set the cap. Keep up the good work helping viewers.
Were the crank bearing issues resolved by 2015?
The new sonata burns oil, so they are not reliable.
I warranty these weekly even on newer Hyundai..ya there easy to fix and cheap..but ya there always broken..run away from Hyundai
My mom had a 2015 Sonata 2.0T. Drove like a brand new car up til 88k when it got totaled. Never had the opportunity to work on it because it never really broke. Only did preventative maintenance on it (oil changes, trans fluid, spark plugs, brakes, carbon cleaning etc). Manufacturer warranty covered a radiator fan resistor and a loose steering column.
P.S. They had the best A/C of any car too.
Can you put a jack under it to lift it as well?
How does the Hyundai dealer justify $500 for the repair? I get it that the parts can cost more but $500 seems a bit excessive.
love your vids , very imformative, i have a 2015 tuscon limited and a 2011 kia optima , both were bought new , have a 120,000 kms on kia and 90,000 kms on tuscon, but the tuscon did break down 2 weeks after warranty finshed, left us stranded without warning was a sensor for timing cant remember what mechanic told me, what is funny about this is that i phoneddealer and the wouldnt pass it on warranty, then 2 weeks later the salesman who sold me the tuscon called and asked how was the vechile i told him what happened, i said i doubt i will be buying another hyundai , but damm i love my optima lx plus, just like the first day i bought it and yes i check the oil regularly
Wow! Engineers that actually make things easier to work on?
You are fooling yourself into thinking these are reliable cars. They are of Hondas. That engine is burning oil because it is worn out and as severe blow by. TBE owner of that car is extremely lucky to have gone over 100K without a severe engine or transmission failure. It is only because you are in rural Kansas and drive mostly highway that it has lasted so long but it is dying. They barely can last to 100K here in NYC traffic and completely rot out by the time they are 10 yrs. These cars have a terrible track record here I will never own one again. Repairs cost nearly as much as original purchase price
I am sorry, I didn't watch the whole thing, but my impression from what I did watch of the HYUNDAI Elantra video yesterday is that Hyundais are cheap rubbish cars. Apparently that is only true of the less expensive end of the model range?
How about comparable Kias ? Optima good, Forte rubbish ?
Look at you showing off knowing where your 10mm is at. Lol
