Thanks so much. I have a Sonata 08 with the same problem. I was hesitant spending some tens of bucks having it replaced. I was afraid of cutting the light wires but now I think I will do it myself. Thanks. I gave it a like.

This video was so helpful! I changed it out in less than 5 minutes!

Thanks so much, also changed out less than 5 minutes per side.

Thanks for posting this! Very helpful to see how to do this.

My 2007 Santa Fe has also had the mechanism which holds the post in place break. I have purchased a replacement from autopartscheaper-dot-com

They claim that the part they are selling is a genuine Hyundai “updated” visor, which is more robust and will not break like the original visor.

thanks for this video :)

Great video, thank you for putting this up, saved me the $200 dollars PER VISOR the dealership wanted to charge me and gave me my weekly DIY high 🙂

Thanks for posting super helpful!

The campaign does appear to be limited. I just purchased new visors and found this video very helpful. I am surprised that Hyundai doesn’t have a global recall for this condition – VERY UNSAFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I believe it would be too wide spread (i.e. expensive) for them. No matter, because of a $100 part and the irresponsibility of the company, I will NEVER buy another Hyundai vehicle.

Great video, I was able to swap out my driver side visor in a few minutes. It is too bad the dealer charges so much to replace this concerning how cheap the visor is and how easy it is to replace. Thanks.

Susan Stutzman says:

I think someone at your dealership was being a cheapskate. I know it’s a regional recall but I am in PA and they did it for me anyway. I was prepared to state plainly that if this simple repair was something over which they didn’t mind losing a future customer, then, see ya. However they didn’t give me any hassle at all so I didn’t need to play this card. I have no idea why they say it’s regional; it happens all over the country.

moonfists says:

Yes, that’s true, but as far as I was able to figure out the recall is limited: “Campaigns applies to vehicles located in the western, sc, and southern regions only.” I’m not covered – I checked with my dealer. I can’t post a link here, but try googling “hyundai visor recall” to see some relevant info. Recalls are much cheaper.

Susan Stutzman says:

This problem is under recall. Call your local Hyundai dealer and they’ll repair it for free! I drove around with a contact lens case wedged into BOTH visors to keep them up until a friend told me I can take it in for the recall.

kohuna52 says:

Thank you. After watching your video, I changed the visor in less than 5 minutes.

Edward Hamilton says:

Thanks for this, I searched all over the internet for installation instructions to no avail…until I came across this clip. The removal of the old visor was super easy and the installation of the new one the same. Thanks!!!

DanW900 says:

my local dealer told me it would be $140 to replace!

Thanks for this! It’s nice to have tips as to how the little parts come apart since sometimes they look like they’d come apart slightly differently than they do. We’re leaving on a road trip tomorrow and no more floppy visors will be really welcome!!

Drew Anderson says:

Hey you are awesome!!! I went to the dealer and they told me that it is going to cost me almost $200 to replace. I found the same oem sunviser new on ebay for $40 and watched your vid then replaced it in minutes! Thanks so much buddy!!!
