Hey Pete, A quick look at Amazon shows that your regulator is almost an exact duplicate for a ’06. Might want to see my other video “Replace 2006 Hyundai rear window regulator” for an easier way to do it. I think you may misunderstand what the regulator is. It is the ENTIRE silver plate that is held down by bolts. You have to remove the whole thing to replace it. Make sure the motor is not your problem first by removing it from the regulator and testing it. Good luck! The Sailor.

I have an ’09 Sonata and need to do the same thing. Do you know if the procedure is the same. Everything looks similar. Is it possible to remove the regulator through the speaker hole without removing the mounting panel? Or is it easier to just remove the whole thing?

Lsailor1 says:

Yes!! Made “Replace 2006 Hyundai rear window regulator” It show how to remove the regulator without having to take off the entire door locking mechanism.

Lsailor1 says:

You have to remove the panel to get to the screws that hold the master switch.

very nice work 🙂
i have a question if you can help me? please
for the same door, if i want to replace the master window switch, shall i remove the whole door panel or i can remove the screw which holds the switch only ??

Thanks once again for your video. Received new regulator and motor and made the replacement today. Had tape holding the glass for the last 2 weeks, but was able to get all tape residue off using WD40!

Lsailor1 says:

Please see my other video “Replace 2006 Hyundai rear window regulator” for those details and a simpler way to do the whole procedure.

Thanks for this video tutorial. I am trying to replace the regulator for 07 sonata (front right side), Got everything off except the the door open/lock cables which I am not sure how to seperate from the regulator as its beyond reach behind the door frame. Do you have any pics/steps that explain how those 2 cables are attached?

Lsailor1 says:

The cables actually go back to the door handle on the inside of the car and I believe the lock button. Good luck!

alphasqix says:

Things are good so far but I’m perplexed starting at 2:14. What is the thing the lock mechanism & cable are attached to?

Lsailor1 says:

Not sure what gold plates you are referring to? On my car, all there was there was two, round rubber flaps that pull down to reveal the window bolts (pause video at the window bolts part).Hope that helps out?

Matthew Weinstein says:

How do I take those gold plates over the window holding bolts off? I have everything removed except still can’t get the panel off it looks like a gold button

Matthew Weinstein says:

very nice thanks!

Lsailor1 says:

You should be able to use a small, sharp screwdriver to pry it off.

Matthew Weinstein says:

hi, i was wondering if someone could help. how do you remove that small plastic covering that covers the screw inside the door handle? I was able to remove all the first 6 except that last one inside the handle, please help!

Lsailor1 says:

Glad it helped you out! Cheers, Jeff

Ben Sheets says:

Great video. Thank you very much. Was able to get the regulator off with no problem. Not sure how to get the interior handle/cables out of the panel but will search around a bit more. Thanks again!!!

Lsailor1 says:

Glad that it was of use! Cheers, Jeff

Found this video very helpful, just completed the job. Took me about 2 hours start to finish. Only thing i could add is i was able to do it without removing the locking mechanism/door handle by reaching inside and removing the clip. Also, the round holes being to small you mention in 1:05 are too small for the factory boots, but if you cut the caps off the factory ones the caps themselves fit in the holes. Thanks again for saving me time and headache!

Alex McDonough says:

And the speaker was riveted in place so I had to drill out those as well. I just replaced them with screws to re-install the speaker.

Alex McDonough says:

Nice video. I had the window all the way down in the door to start with so I had to drill out the four big rivets holding the regulator on the back of the panel in order to get the old panel and regulator off. I did not remove the lock mechanism, but I did remove the three torx screws in the outside edge of the lock.

Lsailor1 says:

Bought the regulator (by itself) off Amazon. Super price!

Anthony Ipsaro says:

Did you buy the regulator by itself and put it on the old subframe or did you get a new regulator and subframe all together?

Lsailor1 says:

Glad I could help out! The Sailor

Thank you so much 4 the video

@gatraw: I agree. This looks very complex. It’s the same as a surgeon saying “This a youtube video on how to perform open heart surgery.” Think I am about to be driving around (Michigan) freezing with some trash bags on the window (or I’ll be catching the bus soon). Damn. I thought it would be somewhat easy.

gatraw says:

I am not sure I want to try this myself lol, seems like a lot of ways I can mess it up
