I thought that you’ll show me an easier way to change my starter :(, but for learn how to do your video is perfect

asadchev says:

Thought I had bad starter/connection. Then realized relay wasnt even clicking. Turned out under the steering column there is some sort of dongle/plugin that came slightly loose. Plugged it in and now starts. No idea what it is but in case someone has problem starting – check to see if that thing is plugged in.

gcast20kill says:

if your car cranks it is not a starter issue unless the pinion gear hangs on the flywheel after starting causing a grinding sound.

Donovan Pierson says:

Two questions: 1. Is this the same as a 2000?
2. How you get enough leverage underneath to work on the starter, get the car high enough of the ground

Mike Smith says:

nothing really, just think that is a very clever name for your sight. i think websites and names can be sold?

HondaHowTo1 says:

what do you mean selling name fixbook?

Mike Smith says:

Thanks a bunch -helped me remove and clean bad connections (green rust on copper bolts of solenoid to starter connection. For you automatic types, no parts above the starter need to be removed though I found removing air filter, air filter housing, and air intake tubing to be very helpful. Also, I did not have to take of bracket you mentioned and it still slid out from underneath. btw -how much will you charge for selling name “Fixbook” ?

HondaHowTo1 says:

I don’t think I actually put a new starter on this car. “Because I’m so busy I can’t look into, and offer, any information other than what I know off of the top of my head. Sorry the answer that I had to offer was limited for this comment.”

Mainbwana says:

Is that top part of the starter the solenoid? Also, how did you know you had to replace the starter? I am almost convinced i have the same issue, since my car cranks, but does not start. This is after i changed the spark plugs, spark wires, belts, battery, and crank sensor. There are no fuel issues. I too have a 5 speed 2001 elantra. It is at 108k miles, and i dont think it has ever had a starter replacement.

HondaHowTo1 says:

lol yeah, and thanks for your comment.
