Mine began to act up 2 days ago on my 2010 Hyundai Sonata and today it looks like a broken neck lol. Window will not go down and summer is coming. Good video and all looks simple and easy. I will have my daughter help since she has smaller hands. Thanks again!
This car fucking sucks
Thanks for taking the time to make this video, it saved me a bunch of money. I was able to find a decent quality replacement switch on ebay for $20, while my local dealer wanted over $100 for the part. I'll take the risk of a non-OEM part for those savings. Had the door panel off, replaced the switch, cleaned up the coffee spill that likely caused the original switch to fail, and had it back on the car and working in about 20 minutes.
Echoing what others have mentioned, the hardest part is the getting those 2 screws on the switch assembly back in and tightened. Did not have to remove the armrest however (the fewer screws I remove, the fewer I lose). The drive on the screw-heads securing the switch to the door panel is pretty deep so your shortest #1 or #2 philips screwdriver should fit in there. Finding the hold can be challenging so wither magnetize your screwdriver or place the screw in the hole with some needle nose pliers first.
I'd avoid removing the cables on the door handle unless you need to service something there as well. It's not necessary to replace this switch. Also, be very careful when removing those little plastic button screw-head covers, they can go flying pretty easily.
Great video though it didn't fix my problem – which was the intermittent operation of the passenger side window. Anyway, I left the new switch in there. Maybe I need a new window motor.
As others have pointed out, a crucial detail is missing in the video – He doesn't show how he got to the two backside screws on the switch. A small ratchet drive would help here. Then you can avoid removing the entire armrest assembly. Also, there is no need to disconnect the connector on the top right side near the mirror.
Get a switch with a plastic pry bar included as that will come in handy.
thx,

Any way to get my window up before replacing my switches?I am in dir need to lift up my window now.
Nice work! Thank you. I wanted to know why you disconnected the door handle/loch assembly from the door frame?… It didn't seen to be required – did I miss something, or was it just a precaution? Thanks again!
Damn thing broke off
Only the drivers side work in mine….help,me please
Do you have to disconnect the negative terminal?
Thank you for the video. 95% of the fix was very easy. The only hard part was getting to the back clip. You did not show how you removed this? I was not able to get my hand behind the control unit with anything I tried. Small screw drivers were not effective. I finally pried off the top and used a large pair of channel lock pliers to squeeze the top together. This popped it off both clips and it pulled right out. I did spend 25 minutes prior to the solution trying to get anything behind the control switch to pop the clip off. Hope this helps someone. I purchased a new one for about $20 on Amazon.
Thank you for the step by step instruction. Completed changing the part in abt 45 mind.
On my 2008 GLS, I had to remove the armrest to be able to access 3 of the small screws that held the window control switch. It wasn't difficult once I realized that was the only way to get to the screws.
Pretty good video, which helped me a lot in replacing the switch in my 09 Sonata. A couple of suggestions:
1) Don't bother trying to disconnect the wires for the little speaker on the top. Just pop out the assembly, and have it hang over the other side of the door. The wire is long enough, and it's very lightweight so there' s no stress.
2) The 2 back screws on the switch as well as the securing tab on its back side are very hard to get to (the video doesn't show how he got to them). Far easier for me was to take out all the screws that hold the switch/arm rest assembly, pop out the entire assembly, and THEN remove the switch. There are about 10 screws holding it together, but they were quick and easy to remove.
NOT THAT EASY U DIDNT SHOW HOW U GOT CLIPON THE OTHER SIDE OF SWITCH ITS A PAIN IN THE ASS!!!!!!!!
just saved yourself about 2 too 3 hundreds dollars by NOT taking it too overcharging mechanics!
thanks! good video need too do mind hynudai gives u lot of extras for the price ,but they have too save somewhere
Great job, especially working with one hand!! ((It will really be easy using two hands.) This will greatly help me with our car.
Thanks for this video it in about to replace mine in the next next few days it was weird the switches on just stopped working
Wait. Great video but I wanted to see functioning window switches after repair. Just because you put it all back together doesn’t mean it’s working correctly.
Well done video. Very helpful. Thanks!
Thank you , the video was just the push I needed. I don't lack ambition so seeing video gave me a heading. Finished in about 35 minutes start to finish! Thanks Tom
Where did you buy the part?
I was having trouble with my driver's side window buttons, going to give this a try tomorrow. Thank you, very good video.
If my window was acting up, always go down but trouble going up in both the rear driver and front control switch.. you think it's just a switch issue?
Thanks for taking the time to post this video. It really helps me out.
