How To: Install an Oil Catch Can | Hyundai Elantra GT N Line

In this video I show you how to install an oil catch can on the 1.6T engine in my Elantra GT N Line. This should apply to most if not all 1.6T cars from Hyundai/Kia for the last few years. This catch can kit was made by SXTH Element Engineering however universal cans will do a similar job just without the fancy bracket. Stay tuned until the end for a sneak peak at an upcoming project!

Hey what do you think about the factory horn? I think it is weak. Granted it is far better than the sissy horn on the 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback Sport that I traded in. Any ideas from the GT crowd?

Steven Williams says:

I took the engine cover off. I like the looks of the engine with out it.

Steven Williams says:

LOL you need a bigger ratchet LOL

Man I sure hope it’s not too late on my 1.6t Tucson at 49k. Have not even done a valve cleaning job. Of course they don’t tell you this at the dealership and scare you away…….

Ffocusalltheway says:

So the pcv side goes to inlet of the catch can? And the oem goes to outlet?

Mark Morrison says:

Ive set my elantra sport like this with out a check valve and went for a cruz for 30 mins and the bottom of my can had oil and gas mixture in it that normal

Lone Wolf says:

Thank you for this! Your videos made it an easy choice for me to get this on order.

Justin, How much oil did you retain on the gdi engine? Common problem causing carbon build up ? Thinking of buying a 2014 Kia or Hyundai. Thanks, subscribed.

Roadsurfer2k11 says:

Emptied mine today and surprised the amount of brown sludge in it. Unfortunately they're illegal to have here in California and under jan 2019 new vehicle code, officers have the right to pop your hood and inspect with no longer fixit ticket but a fine. These can extend to more than $1000 in fines if continued caught with it. First time they immediately send you to a smog ref which will be a $100+ fee alone to further inspect. I need to pull the air intake as well. Mines a dual cc with breather filter and screams mod painted red. I can paint it black and try and hide it. Its a catch 22… suffer a messed up turbo eventually stock, or pay the fines. Option 3 is moving out of state, definitely on my plan list.

Kitty Universe says:

Thank you for posting this vid. Have you noticed allot of vapour collecting into the catch can?

Darren Russell says:

Nice videos , I have a 2019 SR Premium in Australia, done heaps of mods. Love the car.

Kevin C says:

What is your take on Tork Motorsport recommending single catch can setup to install on the breather side instead of the pcv?

Mike Balasia says:

Is an oil catch can recommended for a naturally aspirated GDI or just the turbo? I have a 2018 Elantra Gt Base with the 2.0L non-turbo GDI engine. Should I install one?
