Hey Lorax, sorry I don’t remember the dimensions exactly but I THINK it was a 2.5″ diameter opening. Try and test fit them at your local auto parts store.
Hey guy’s I’m sorry I don’t quite recall the dimensions. If you have the elantra just go measure the diameter of the pipe coming off of the throttle body. You can usually go hit your local auto parts shop and test fit the filters too. You can always return them if they don’t fit.
Exact same question as Shane. Wondering what are the dimensions of the filter.
what size is the intake? where did you get it? how long did you have it on?
Nice one mate. Planning to get one for my Toyota Starlet in a couple of weeks.
LOOKS LIKE THE FILTER OUT OF MY SHOP VAC
I didn’t have to move any sensors. The intake tubing is sensor free from he point where I added the filter.
What did you do with the mass air flow sensor?
I Have a really important question for you !! Where the hell did you put your mass air flow sensor ?!, awnser me please !
The guy bellow me is mistaking. The variable timing has nothing to do with intake resistance. Knock, throttle position, and CPU programing play the biggest factors.
u lost all the low torque and your car will drive like shit. i made the same mistake with the 2.0l nu cvvt . i regrett. the variable induction system works with the proper standard filter .u can play with the exhaust , no problem but the air filter need to be the original paper with the airbox.
I figured out that that was it! lol I felt stupid. Brand new filter just heating up that new oil. I drove it today with a 6″ X 6″ spectre cone filter. Such an improvement in sound and just a tiny bit more responsive in the lower positions of the CVT at high rev. Just a bit loud for the day to day though. I haven’t been under the car yet. Is the muffler a bolt on or one straight piece? I really do wish they did a turbo version of this car with a about 200 hp… It would be a rocket!!!
Haha no worries, it could have been an issue of the oil from the K&N filter heating and evaporating into the air? Good luck on your future mods 🙂
I tried this took it for a drive. Kinda beat it ya know and when I pulled it in and it smelled really hot… I have beat it before and it hasn’t smelled like that. I switched it back to stock. it sounded good with the cone but that smell just wasn’t familiar.. lol maybe I was just freaking out about my new car.
Nope like I said below it does not effect your warranty. Just put your stock stuff back on before lease turn in and you’ll be fine!
One last question. Does this DIY Short Ram mod void the warranty? I have a lease.
Wow, thanks for the info man.
This is actually a Generic K&N cone filter I picked up a while back. I couldn’t find a part number on it but I THINK it is a 2.5″ diameter. Head up to your local discount auto and they should have a good selection of generic cone filters of all different sizes. Pop off your air box and measure the opening on your stock piping and you’ll be good to go. If you want even more sound and better flow you can replace the pipe as well with one from a kit and attach to the throttle body with coupler.
Would you happen to have the part number on that guy? I just picked up my 2013 Elantra Coupe yesterday and I’d love to get this mod on order. Thanks!
box o ram air is ok
Yea I discussed the potential for pulling in hot air from the engine bay in the video. Thanks for the comment.
In this side, the ram air take air hot=more spending, less power
So far it’s showing about 1-2mpg increase but only time will tell.
How many more miles per gallon did you get?
Haha you can hear some dude in his Turbo Nissan cruise by me around 0:30 (listen for the chirp lol)
