If there are no visible screws on the backside of the remote, then it snaps together the same way. You should be able to pry it apart with your nails or maybe even a butter knife. You could also use a flat screw driver but it may leave a small indentation from prying due to the sharper edges of the tool. Unfortunately there isn’t enough room to remove the battery, so it is needed to take the circuit board out also.

You might be able to take the actual vin to the dealership and they should be able to tell you what it was equipped with. If that doesn’t work, then you would need to find the module box for the keyless entry system and then get the serial off that and find the corresponding remote which matches it.

Any way of knowing the model or FCC ID number when sticker on back of case is worn or removed? I did not see anything on the printed circuit board in your fine video. I need a replacement for a 2004 Santa Fe but I know there are four possible numbers used for that model year.

I have the exact same remote you are doing demo on; but my Hyundai Sonata is a 2002..and I do not see any little gap or slot to access to get a thin screwdriver in it to pull apart..I don’t want to break it; and once opened=can’t I just take out battery and put my new one in?

4Diyers says:

There is no key slot in the driver’s door handle or trunk??? I didn’t realize they did that in 2004. If you’re car won’t unlock, you can possible use a slim gym which is a tool that slides into the door and you latch onto the mechanism which will unlock the door. Although I’m not sure if it has a barrier to prevent this tool from working because after 2000, most vehicles were designed so this system couldn’t work.

yes, how do you get in a 2004 Hyundai elantra, if the remote isn’t working and there’s no key slot????????

I found this link on how to reprogram the remote w w w.santafemods.c o m/Mods/TransmitterCode.h t m (remove spaces)

Do you know how to program it????

4Diyers says:

Unfortunately the metal contact is probably broken. It solders directly to the circuit board so it may have broke at the solder joint, so you should be able to have it resoldered. Or it may have cracked and broke on the metal contact itself, which isn’t as easy to repair. You could probably also solder that, but it most likely won’t last long.

Charles Hagan says:

The metal conductor fell out and I cannot make sense on how to put it back in.
