No, I never had to do them on that car, but I did a video about Mazda wheel
bearings. Should be pretty similar.

Chris Reggio says:

Do you have a video on front wheel bearing replacement for that car?(2001
hyundia elantra)

Bud Spencer und Terence Hill says:

Enjoyed the pleasant interlude of birds chirping 🙂

WhoSaidTyler says:

That code has to do with the output speed sensor. There may be a TSB that
concerns that, may want to do some googling.

WhoSaidTyler says:

@lheartlondon yes, normally, but the ground slopes downward and forward
there, so that’s why the block in front of the wheel.

DefinitelyMaybeCosmo says:

Thanks for the video, very helpful and detailed. By the way, do you happen
to know what to do if car reads a P0722 on the engine light code reader?

Remington Aldrete says:

@9:02 fireworks?!?!

keruzza52 says:

i did what you done in this video and my car’s working
GREAT!!!!!!!….THANK YOU!!!!

sdemat says:

Your videos are absolutely fantastic. I’m getting ready to do the timing
belt on my car and I can now do it because of your videos. Kudos from New
Hampshire!

bufordrufus77 says:

WhoSaidTyler is the MAN!!! A big thanks for your awesome videos from
Nashville. Keep up the good work.

tiffany cook says:

will this also work on a 2000 hyundai elantra?

footeze226 says:

How long will it take to replace both sides – any special tools needed to
pull the ball joints or anyhting else

Robert Waldon says:

man…i wish i knew where the subframe was when jacking. I think I may have
bent something last time (same model as the one shown in the video.

kempnerboy07 says:

Thank you so much for posting this! I’m about to do this procedure for my 02

WhoSaidTyler says:

@kempnerboy07 You’re welcome. If they were as bad as mine were you’ll be
glad you did.

WhoSaidTyler says:

It should.

WhoSaidTyler says:

That’s certainly an alternative. I hesitate to do that because on cars
which have camber adjustments up there it’s possible to upset the alignment.

WhoSaidTyler says:

“axle nut SOCKET”..the axles come with new retaining nuts.

WhoSaidTyler says:

You’re welcome. Hang on to that 32mm socket…a lot of FWD cars use that
size axle nut.

WhoSaidTyler says:

@keruzza52 Awesome, glad it helped you guys.

Kevin Hucker says:

Tyler – Thanks for the video. Just wanted to let you know it’s much easier
to remove the two bolts on the strut on top to rotate the hub out of the
way than it is to remove the ball joint from the bottom.

Sean Scott says:

Hey man thanks for uploading this video. I have a 1999 hyundai elantra
(very similar to the car you are working on and I actualy did the timing
belt just how you showed in your other video) I have a bad clicking poping
sound when cornering and the cv outer boot is badly torn. so im fairly
certain its the cv joint so im going to replace it next pay check. Would it
be advisable to replace the ball joint at this time? or just leave it
alone? Thanks again for the upload man.

WhoSaidTyler says:

@sdemat Thanks!

WhoSaidTyler says:

@DARKSCOPE001 I normally give them the feel test when I have it apart. If
you can detect any looseness, as in you can produce a rattle noise, then
replace. If it seems tight and has grease in it I would not replace it yet.
Thanks for watching.

WhoSaidTyler says:

@footeze226 If you haven’t done it before, allow 4 hours for both sides,
although it shouldn’t take near that long. You’ll need a selection of
metric wrenches and sockets, a hammer, a fork-type balljoint separater, a
long handle to add leverage, a pry bar and an axle nut, i think this one
was a 32mm. You WILL need a 1/2 ratchet and a torque wrench.

lheartlondon says:

wouldn’t the wheel wedge go behind the tire since the majority of the
weight would be leaning back and not forward?

rylan09 says:

32 mm just what i needed to know. Thank you backyard mechanic!:D
