great video, but NEVER USE TAP WATER!!! DISTILLED WATER ONLY!!! The
minerals and chemicals in the water will create buildup of lime and calcium
in the system. Distilled water is processed to be void of any of those
things and works much better in anything mechanical. Even when rinsing.

Red Kap says:

My accent has an idiot light for water temperature indication. I would like
to install a water temperature gauge so I can get real time reading. Have
you came across an access port in the block for a gauge to connect?

gereral1 says:

if your tank has a second hose it drains to thre ground

Vangy Economou says:

the coolant reservoir has 2 tubes.. the one goes to the radiator. where the
other should go?

gereral1 says:

A head gasket can be checked with a kit used while the car is hot, put the
nozzle into the radiator and suck the gas into the tester. If the liquid
turns yellow its your head gasket. DIY it would cost you 20 bucks for the
head gasket. For a mechanic would be close to 1000 bucks i’m guessing. Some
other guys on here cover this test and how to replace. Ii hope this helps
you out.

Great video! I am from Europe and I have i20. On that link there is no i20
in model list. Is there any link where can I see servis manual for i20? I
think it is similar procedure for antifreeze change on your accent and my
i20, but I would like to see service manual for i20 if there is one.

gereral1 says:

1.6l engine. Typo. ….

Mladen H says:

Today I dropped the coolant out through the sink faucet, but then come out
less than 3L. I took off my reservoir cap and radiator cap. I lifted up the
tank, but it’s not worth it. How to squeeze the remaining 1.1 liter? The
technical data says that there are 4.1 liters of coolant mixture in i20 1.25

I love SLAVE MART ! they got great deals !!!

gereral1 says:

No problem. When i do more work to my car ill post more service repairs and
how to videos.

gereral1 says:

True but if u do it yearly this will not be a problem. By the way the
antifreeze is the rust inhibitor. What you mean is scale buildup.

gereral1 says:

The radiator has a oil cooler in the bottom for the transmission. Sometimes
the channels in the radiator crack causes the coolant to mix with the oil
in radiator. Remove the engine oil cap and look inside. If your engine oil
is foamy that could be head gasket is cracked. Low coolant and overheating
can destroy and warp the engine block causing you to replace the whole
engine. Your car is not that old and this shit should be covered under
warranty. Its NOT your fault that the radiator went dry.

gereral1 says:

hyundai says 100,000 klm then change then every 48,000 klm after words. i
just change it every summer.

gereral1 says:

Just so you know I saw a video on what extended life coolant does to your
engine. Water pump, thermostats, radiator, head gasket, intake gasket…..
these will get corrioded and will size of you wait over 60,000 Better to
flush that stuff out yearly to save thousands later!

nbman1 says:

thanks you for the info

gereral1 says:

You can see how this is done by going to realfixesrealfast channel and
watch his video.

Brian Nerida says:

Sir, may i ask if its true. I have accent 2010 model. I noticed evrytime i
turn off the engine somethings bubbling sound somewhere around infront the
car. I went to hyundai service cwnter only to find out it was in coolant
aomewhat boiling then overflow over the radiator. The mecanic says theres
no water in radiator causing to engine overheat he says. But my coolant is
full. Is it true? They just change our radiator 3weeks ago as previous
problem we encounter and now another problem approaches.

Mladen H says:

Mine is 1.25 but cooling system is same like on your accent 2009. Thanks
for reply. My has 4.1L of coolant mixture capacity and Hyunday recommands
Shell Glycoshell (red color antifreeze).

Brian Nerida says:

We had newly chage oil along with the new replaced radiator last 3 weeks
ago jan4 2013. They blame us for having the radiator drained out of water
that causes engine overheat thats what the mechanic said to us

Brian Nerida says:

I was asking if what causes if its really true we have engine overheat,
what causes coz we have no trust on them maybe they just makibg up things
so that they can charge us big ampunt. Ty sir

Each jug cost dollar at Walmart. Use hose water to wash radiator and
reservoir then fill with 1 hug, run, drain, fill with second jug ,run,
drain, then do a third time. Last year I used tap water. No white scaling
when I redid it. My coolant was clean and green but I still flush it
yearly. Dislted water is the correct was if you flush it every 150,000 .

gereral1 says:

I20 is the same version called Hyundai avcent in Canada and USA. 3.3l
x2=6.6litre of total for 1.4 ltr engine. Your cars owners manual should
list this total as well as a fluids and the amounts. Your brakes on the I20
are a bit different but the same procedure to change coolant. I don’t this
Hyundai USA will ever put the service manual on hyundaitechinfo site
becauae its says USA residents only.

AwakeDude911 . says:

wait he flushes the system then ADD regular water?…WHAT? regular water
has chorine in it that will rust the system out quicker than using
DISTILLED water…

Mladen H says:

Thanks, but my problem is not oil in the cooling mixture. I don’t have an
oil in cooling mixture. So I don’t have to flush the cooling system. My
problem is that I can drain only 3L of cooling mixture from my cooling
system. In owners manual writes that my cooling system have 4.1L of cooling
mixture in cooling system. 4.1 – 3 = 1.1L How can I drain that 1.1L from my
cooling system before I fill up with new, fresh cooling mixture? I opened
the radiator cap and reservoir cap, and still nothing.

gereral1 says:

Ok hadns, after the last step in my video of running car with water, drain.
Look at your owners manual for total coolant capacity and put 1/2 of that
into your rad. fill the remainder with water then place 50 percent coolant
and 50 percent water into your overflow tank.

gereral1 says:

A little tip. Radiator cap spring can cause coolant to evaporate into the
overflow tank and leak out while the car is driven. This is why you cant
tell where the coolant is going. Inspect all hoses, heater core in and out
hoses, check thermostat hose and clamp for leaks, verify thermostat is not
stuck in the closed position, water pump weeping hole leaking excessive
coolant. If like you said oil is present in coolant that sounds like a head
gasket test is needed.

Mladen H says:

Sorry, I mean Hyundai 🙂 Are you sure there is no any air filter to bleed
air from cooling system?

gereral1 says:

keeps the coolant from catching on the dust shield and getting all over
your driveway. as for the reservoir you could suck out the coolant with as
turkey baster. I just like to get a perfect 50 50 mix. You can buy 3 jugs
of distled water if you want to go that route. this summer I did the
distled same as in this video and it took exactly 3 jugs.

gereral1 says:

use internet explorer as this site, firefox will not display scroll bars
properly

Mladen H says:

Merry Christmas too!

hawkstiko86 says:

Hi, you said you were using a Hyundai manual. Which one do you have, and
where can I get one?

GS Machine says:

Thanks for posting!!! I will attempt this today…looks easy!
