Hey, do you know if i could add stock steering wheel controls to my 08 gls
sonata that didnt come with the steering wheel controls and continue to use
my stock radio?

THELIONSFANGS says:

i am not sure if u will read this, but if you can send me the link or the
name for the stereo wiring harness you used, it will help me a lot. because
yours seems to work fine. and if there were any modification u needed to do
to the wires please tell me. THANKS

TheTexasHitmen says:

@gdashtro This particular model has an wiring kit to use the factory
steering wheel control but I decided not to use them. The wireless remote
suits me fine. Thanks for asking.

gdashtro says:

Hello, does the buttons on the steering wheel control the replacement audio
system?

THELIONSFANGS says:

I already did that, I read the reviews, some are saying things about volume
problems, the harness is ok i go that part, its just when it comes to the
correct wire, i get three options, dont know which one to buy. I do have 07
sonata, if that makes any difference.

TheTexasHitmen says:

Just go to Amazon Dot Com and search for 2006-10 Hyundai Sonata stereo
installation kit and right one will pop up. Everything from the stereo
adapter to harnesses are in it. There are two type of kits: One for a
regular aftermarket size and the Dual DIN size like the one I use here.

TheTexasHitmen says:

@NuMBERNYC I had to replace the stereo. As soon as the warranty went the
stereo stop working. I’m glad I did it. Sounds great and I got a great deal
on the Boss speakers too.

Chronoslayer says:

Hi, there! I’m right now in the process of trying to get the head unit on
my ’08 Sonata replaced, since it doesn’t have AUX in. Glad to see your
install went well 🙂 What is the wiring harness that you used to get the
job done? I’ve been trying to shop one up, but I’m not sure if the models
I’ve seen on the internet are what I need to get this done.

TheTexasHitmen says:

@Chronoslayer72 It’s easy. Go to Amazon and search for “stereo wiring
harness for 2006 Sonata and the parts you need will pop up. My harness was
under $15 and you’ll need an installation kit too which you can find by
searching for “stereo instalation kit for 2006 Sonata”. Both kits fit
’06-’10 NF Sonatas. I hope this helps and good luck on the install. It
should be a snap with the right parts. It took longer taking out the old
stuff than putting in the new.

TheTexasHitmen says:

It also depends on the radio used and the speakers used. I had extra wires
that wasn’t used and negative wires had to be bridged for the front
speakers and rear. After that I had no volume problems. Unfortunately every
stereo is different.
