At time 6:00 I explain the alternator bracket. Were you able to remove the alternator and then remove the bolt behind the pivot bolt? Also If I remember correctly you have to remove the engine mount to get to it… This part was a pain…
How do you get the lower alternator bolt out? …I’m down to this bolt, the right bank plastic cover, and the hefty aluminum bracket between motor mount and engine. All the bolts are out. I understand it won’t come out with alternator in place, but bracket seems welded to engine block.
No problem my man….I still take my hat off to you and all those out here who have no idea how big of a job this is…THEY WILL when they tear this motor down to do it….THIS IS NOT FOR BEGINNERS… I especially liked the techs tip of using a block of wood to hold the cam sprockets in place and eventho I did it properly….THE REAR ONE SLIPPED TIME…..it didnt slip but it has to be laced up “just so” because when the tensioner does its job it alligns into time… The rear is a BITCH to do
Thank you very much for the nice comments. I actually did this for that exact reason. In case I forgot where something went or ended up with extra parts. 😉 Plus if I could help someone else out like out even all the better. Its crazy that in 60,000 miles I will have to do it again. but that is Hyundai’s recommended maintenance schedule… better safe than sorry I guess.. But thanks again I am glad you liked it and it helped you out…
Nice Job my man…I am a mechanic (High level Hobbyist type non pro) I wanted to commend you on the time and effort it took you to do this for everyone… I just finished my Sante Fe same yr as yours and its A BIG JOB… I dont know how you had the patience to film all this WHILE doing the job as well. I just used your video here to find out where my “xtra ” bolt came from….The top alternator bolt…Silly but important. GREAT GREAT JOB HERE MAN
could you do a 0-60mph video of this Santa Fe please? My Kia Sedona minivan has the same engine, as was just wondering what the performance is with this engine in the Santa Fe.
Love the video. I’ll probably have to do one of these at work today or tomorrow. Youtube video are better then shop manuals.
